i went school in a rural community for a bit and a lot of them actually hate the government and rich people, but the democrats don’t make an effort to appeal to them so they feel unwanted and not represented

Despite these being relatively small issues compared to an enormous policy like universal healthcare

That’s where the divide is being propagated - it makes it seem like these are the defining issues that separate left and right instead of progressive policies that would actually affect rural voters

Dems need to manage to overcome the republicans constantly shifting the narrative onto these by keeping the focus for these voters on things that will help their day to day
