  • Because these policies(universal healthcare, universal college, strong labor unions, green new deal infrastructure jobs, byu) would heavily benefit rural communities, but they vote against their best intrests due to the GQP’s propaganda

How do we overcome these challenges and get the red counties to vote blue

Progressives need to target rural voters w rhetoric around class over identity

    pretty much this

i went school in a rural community for a bit and a lot of them actually hate the government and rich people, but the democrats don’t make an effort to appeal to them so they feel unwanted and not represented

they are being manipulated by the republicans, but ignored by the dems

just think right now in america there are some key issues used as scapegoats to scare rural voters away from progressive policy

Notice how most of what you hear about in the news are abortion policies, trans rights policies, immigration policies etc
Despite these being relatively small issues compared to an enormous policy like universal healthcare

That’s where the divide is being propagated - it makes it seem like these are the defining issues that separate left and right instead of progressive policies that would actually affect rural voters

Dems need to manage to overcome the republicans constantly shifting the narrative onto these by keeping the focus for these voters on things that will help their day to day

you have to vote blue or republicans will win every time. if you want progressive candidates then you need to vote in primary.

if primary turnout was same as election turnout bernie mightve won

But what if the “blue” candidates are basically moderate Republicans on all the issues
    Then what’s the point
