Just curious to see what y’all think about this. For example, if someone brutally murders someone else, then they would get murdered in the same way. Definitely an extreme example but just getting the point across. (Obviously with anything there would possibly be exceptions)
Edit: this is hypothetical
eye for an eye yes
I think anyone coming in with any claim on this topic should extemdively look into empirical data regarding deterrence theory before making any claim tbh

i’m not claiming we should do this. just throwing ideas around. tired of seeing “how do i get women” threads in life sxn haha. need some real discussion
welcome to 500 B.C, Population: @op
They had complex judicial systems at that time, this is more like 6000 BC justice
killed. hung. whatever. just get rid of them
give em the blood eagle 😈
i mean theres a reason it was left in the past
killed. hung. whatever. just get rid of them
how about you go hunt down every single one and do the deed yourself.
give em the blood eagle 😈
Lol im not that sadistic .But Im all for the needle or electric chair for those that deserve it. Theres no use for them.

i was just joking. but in all honestly i don’t know why rapists, serial killers, and child molesters only get “life in prison”

Im not Dexter.
I personally couldnt take a life.
There’s way too many different variables for this to actually work out
yeah i’m 100% aware. this is a very very very loose concept. i in no way believe we should do this. just wanted to hear some discussion
obviously there's a lot of reasons why this is bad, but the biggest for me is that if even ONE single innocent person is wrongly executed for something they didn't do, then the whole system is immoral

that’s true. but even in our “advanced” judicial system thousands spend years behind bars on wrong convictions
would this decrease crime rates since perpetrators would know the same thing will happen to them?
No, you watch too many movies if that's what you think. People who rob will definitely think twice but if there's someone really messed up in the head that wants to kill there's not much you can do to stop them. You can't scare those people into changing their minds.
That's why people need to take mental health seriously because that stops the crime before it even happens. We're creating these kids that shoot up schools, even though they're still responsible, and kids on social media who do anything for clout probably just need better parenting at home.
The question is complicated but no, an eye for an eye doesn't solve anything it's just pure revenge that changes nothing in the end

This already happens
One of the main reasons why I think the death penalty is dumb. Just read an article about a dude that got executed 4 years ago and they JUST found dna evidence that it wasn’t his on the weapon.
PLUS personally I think life in solitude/prison is a more suitable punishment than death. It’s kinda like an easy way out for them if you really think about it
