Nah, MMLP2 had higher highs... unfortunately lower lows as well.

Bad Guy is probably the best song Eminem has ever written.

I've never listened to Revival in it's entirety so I'll give you that

I'm actually starting to figure out that you never really GOT why Eminem was so great in the first place.

Go check out the lyrics to Renegade and actually compare the scale of what both artists are talking about.

Not trying to diminish Jay Z and the urban struggle but on one hand you have a street level tale, and on the other you have federal censorship, religious insights, social commentary that's still relevant to today

obviously Em was better on Renegade, that’s why the term “renegade” exists

& you frame Em’s lyrics in such a funny way. in reality, Em’s early raps were about being an angsty junkie & hating the women in his life, then they shifted toward “oh now nobody likes me because i said i wanted to kill national icon Mariah Carey and also i love my daughter”, then “my early lyrical content was actually a net negative, sorry mom ily, and also i’m the best rapper ever listen to all these syllables i can say in a row”

none of that aged well at all

Like I said, jay’s legacy is based on myth and falls apart like a house of cards upon any examination. He supposed has this discog full of classics that no listens to anymore. He’s also this great song writer but can’t make a hit without features to save his life. Literal sand castle legacy

Has gotta be one of the most tone deaf things I’ve seen on here

Jay-Z is my favorite rapper’s favorite rapper’s favorite rapper

that’s enough credibility to give him his flowers

Poor white Eminem being attacked by federal censorship for just wanting to talk about raping his mother on acid

Surely other people of the culture he’s in have never been prosecuted like that

Like what are we doing here

Na there’s a difference between giving someone their flowers and rewriting history to inflate their legacy

has anyone brought up how Em’s lost every rap beef with a competent opponent?

every man he dissed was either already one foot out the door career-wise or not even a rapper, and he even struggled against MGK

and he was weak asf for dissing women in the first place, and even more weak for losing to Mariah when she dropped Obsessed

This is exactly what I'm saying, you dont get it so you pretend that theres nothing there.

It's hilarious in how reductionist it is.

I could boil Jay Z's entire catalog down to "I was poor, I sold crack, now I'm very rich and married to Beyonce" but im guessing you'd have a problem with that

Modern Eminem is the rap equivalent of a photorealistic painter

you can walk by and appreciate the attention to detail and technical skill but theres no depth besides what you see on the surface

Try Vince Staples new s***... I dont think you'll enjoy it but should help shake up your old ears a bit

It’s fine. Just sadly just fine.

Jay Z lost the only rap battle he was ever involved in and was so traumatized he never directly mentioned any of his other opponents by name.

Jay Z fans call it subliminals and think it's very clever.

i guess it really comes down to personal preference

do you personally relate more to someone rapping about raping their mother and killing their wife because they’re so edgy or do you relate more to someone rapping about hustling and being smart to elevate themself out of poverty into a position of power?

To me Renegade is the perfect representation of Jay Z. Slick rapping with a nice flow about how he had to hustle to come up from the bottom. Very impressive by itself but looks weak af when a rapper who’s lyrically superior is on the same song

    That’s a lovable bunch!!

Why not talk about them instead of spending time convincing people to not like jay z music?
