Drake is distribution deal as well
literally his reddit and variety confirms it's a 360 but due to the money he's not "getting f***ed" (even tho he is, 400 million be damned )

why is his music liscensed to UMG though?
Wasn’t tidals whole gameplan “for the artist”. This is how they could do that. I would switch over to them for this, give the artists freedom to go back to that style. Drop original tapes or hop on hot beats like Wayne or fab.
the whole signing launch video/ceremony was one of the most bs corporate marketing moves in music history

And one of them was Everything Is Love
Uncleared samples are never making it on DSPs legally, even if it isn't monetized
And even if they somehow were, are artists really gonna be putting out music for free? Mixtapes were popular when there wasn't a way to release music with the click of a button
The American Mixtape is dead
Real for cuphead avi
Mixtape section.
Create a dedicated section of DSPs, like Apple does for radio, specifically for mixtapes. No monetization so artists can do whatever they like over other beats with no restrictions. This would allow artists to throw their mixtape backlog up, while allowing new artists to punch through without full studio albums which mostly require support from large labels.
We would get new superstars and bring true hip hop back
I don’t see how this works tbh
No DSP is willing to have free music on their platform without making a profit off it except maybe SoundCloud
The best way mixtapes come back is if rappers solely use it as a way to release leftover music or demos that didn’t make the cut on the album.
One of my fav Smino songs is an isley brothers flip.
A good portion of his fanbase that only stream prolly never even heard it smh.
We do need mixtapes back on streaming somehow though.
look good
