I don’t quite understand why drake even went this route with that record

It wasn’t even a diss, just him saying he wanted to be the best

Drake saying “it wasn’t malicious because I saw him a week later and it was all love” is so funny because nigga, why wouldn’t it be? He didn’t say s*** about you or your family or disrespected you

I’m a drake guy and hatedddd how weird he got over that verse.

And the countless other rappers who recorded entire diss tracks aimed at Kendrick didn't felt a type of way? Even J. Cole sent shots at Kendrick on the TKO remix lmao. Y'all stay acting like Drake was the only one who reacted to that s*** and it'll forever be weird.

Hilarious that all y'all can ever say about Kendrick and real confrontation with any rapper are ifs and maybes and not for a lack of confrontation but an unwillingness for him to ever step into the ring with anybody.

Kendrick's strategy has always been to talk big s*** on songs and then duck the smoke when someone really wants it or he'll act like he never sent any shots to begin with when confronted about it lol.

Any rapper who was actually gonna do s*** would have done so years ago. Kendrick ain't about that life and y'all need to stop being so stupid as to think that simply being a good rapper equates to being excellent in a rap battle lol.

Crazy that the "soft rapper" who sings all the time has had more scraps with rappers on wax than Kendrick can never claim to have lmao.

Crazy how people have formed the narrative of Drake being butthurt like there weren't rappers out here crying they didn't get mentioned and people didn't record multiple diss tracks towards Kendrick but let y'all tell it, Drake is the only one who addressed that verse

I know this is a late response, but I said anyone worth mentioning. Drake was the most notable rapper to get mad.

He can rap his ass off but no one cares about rappers like Papoose being mad and making diss tracks.

I mean Meek was responding too, but it seemed more like competition rather than just actually being mad.

How was Drake "mad"? In the Elliott Wilson interview, everything he said about that verse was the truth. It was overhyped and didn't do s*** because Kendrick just did that to get fans excited. Said all that s*** about wanting to kill niggas and outdo them and proceeded to do nothing of the sort lol. J. Cole echoed the exact same thing in his TKO remix verse btw:

    Blood thicker than water, right
    F*** b****es, they all alike
Stand up nigga, not the falling type
Heart blacker than the Harlem Nights til I met you,
They say the devil wear Prada but I doubt it cause the Lord did bless you
    Damn look at that body
Short bus shorty, cause you sure is special Cole to the rescue,
    Never save a ho
Hoes like to hide their behavior though
Thought you was a down ass b****
'Til I found that s*** a couple days ago, I was home alone
Next thing I know that long ass verse from a song called "Control" was on
The room got nearer, the tune got clearer
That's when I seen the s*** playing on your phone
Girl, what is that a ringtone?
    S***, not you too
Man the hype done got you too
    Everybody and their momma gassed
Even my momma asked what I'mma do
    Decisions, decisions
In case this is war, then I load up on all ammunition
If a nigga want problems, my trigger's on auto
I'll make sure that nobody miss him

Now pack up your s***, you don't believe in me
    I don't need you, I got me, b****
Same nigga moved to NYC, b****
Got a record deal and a college degree, b****
Two gold plaques, I produced all the tracks
And I never ever ever lean on Jay-Z, b****
    And after all that achievement
Real nigga never even went and got his teeth fixed
Now you try to play me, b****?
You try to f***in' play me? I ought to knock your ass out

All Drake did was say what most rappers thought in an interview and y'all turned him into the poster boy for being upset at that verse lmao.

In the same interview, he gave Kendrick his props but no one ever says that lmao.

It's wack acting like he was the only rapper who had something to say about that verse and it's silly that people have changed the narrative to it being that he's the only one who reacted it to it when that's simply not true.

Tbh I don’t even have that strong of an opinion on it, it’s just funny to me how you often try so hard to spin the narrative in a positive light of air for whatever side you want Drake to be on

  • Sep 27, 2022

Also, it was weak for Kendrick to suggest he just did that s*** to "shake things up". The rap game is ALWAYS competitive, even when rap niggas are being friendly with one another. It never means there isn't such a thing as friendly competition.

Rappers are so sensitive that even when a rapper just thinks a bar is a shot at him, he can go off the deep end and make a whole diss track as a response but Kendrick was out here copping pleas in interviews when rappers responded with diss tracks trying to spin a "peace and love" narrative

I'm just stating fact. There's nothing to spin when it's all out there and people willfully ignore it to form their own narratives simply because the person in discussion is Drake lol. There are dozens of interviews from countless rappers back then being way more bothered and upset than Drake ever was and niggas are acting like that never happened.

First, absolutely nothing from that J.Cole verse makes it seemed like he was butt hurt about it rather than just responding to it.

Drake was talking in interviews like, “I seen him a week later and it was all love, so I don’t know” or whatever. Talking about he’s gonna have a hard time getting features because a lot of rappers aren’t gonna want to work with him. Plus the s*** with the scrapped First Take interview. And other subliminal s*** he’s done in other interviews and songs as well.

They really had a falling out over that s*** because the nigga got mad. It just is what it is.

And this is coming from a huge fan of drake’s music.
