A lot of places will want to see w2/paystubs, proof of solid income and a stable job goes farther than credit, if you have both of those things you should be set. Especially if youre not in a high cost of living area

I've been doing mad research bc Im getting ready to move out and into NYC

You need steady income, make 2.5x more then your rent.
You need a decent credit score and you need a deposit plus first months rent.

You’ll also need apartment insurance, a electric/gas/water account before move in date.

You’ll need to pay the application fee and hopefully pass the background check.

Im trying to move to Atlanta, im just a single guy with little to no expenses outside of eating and my car

im definitely going to have to work to pay my bills and stuff and im fine with that but currently I've only been making roughly 1k a month doing minimum work because I dont have any expenses just been saving

Look on Craigslist’s. Some rentals are privately owned so there’s more leeway
Some people rent out the small studio behind there home for a cheaper price and if you can pay a few months rent in advanced I don’t see why they wouldnt agree to let you rent it out.
Unless you selling d**** then find a good cover story.

Not really sure, preferably lower manhattan or greenpoint but I don't think I'll be able to make that work on my starting salary without roommates, which im hoping to avoid. Upper east side seems good for the value, I could prob swing a studio there. what about you?

In your case I’d look into a private landlord until you get a stable job.
Just a quick search on Craigslist’s and places seem to range from $1000-$1300.

The trouble comes from getting a full time job or a well paying job. Getting a job that pays $11 an hour, you’ll be making 1,760 before taxes. Which isn’t 2.5x your rent.

In California my light bill runs up to ~$55, gas is $5 and internet is $55.

If you find a private owner I think you’d be able to talk your way into renting the place.

  • Apr 1, 2021

Just go on Zillow or something and if you find a place you like that’s in your price range hit up the landlord

o s*** so you only have to pay your rent plus like 110 dollars to live for the month ???

so thearetically in my situation if I was to get an apartment and the rent was 1500 I would only have to pay like 1700 a month for every thing ?

if someone can cosign you now you can build your credit paying rent and utilities

Yea. So you’d pay your rent. Then on top of that you’ll pay Electric, Gas and/or Water.
Some apartment complexes include either gas or water.
Then if you want anything extra like Cable Tv/Satellite/Internet/Home Phone you’ll be paying extra.

Since your young, maybe having a roommate will help you save money. It’s easier to split everything then having to pay it all yourself. That’s on option.

Idk how the south is with its utility bills (Since the winter storm seemed to have f***ed up texas) but it might cheaper or more expensive.

But yea you’d need to be doing about $2500 to live a borderline comfortable life in a $1000 apartment

Plus if your moving fresh outtta your parents you’ll need $2000+ for appliances/furniture/groceries.

All I really got is my mom and I kind of want to do this on my own

I have time before ill be moving out so I can try and build credit

I think I just want to get this done by the end of the year no rush

  • You need someone to co-sign and most tenants and landlords want to know you're job. If it's your first one they might be afraid you're a worst case scenario squatter so I'd recommend you have both those things ready and someone with exceptional credit and they might want a big deposit.
