You need steady income, make 2.5x more then your rent.
You need a decent credit score and you need a deposit plus first months rent.
You’ll also need apartment insurance, a electric/gas/water account before move in date.
You’ll need to pay the application fee and hopefully pass the background check.
You think 800-950 rent with a month income of “around” 2200-2600 is cool?
Yea. So you’d pay your rent. Then on top of that you’ll pay Electric, Gas and/or Water.
Some apartment complexes include either gas or water.
Then if you want anything extra like Cable Tv/Satellite/Internet/Home Phone you’ll be paying extra.
Since your young, maybe having a roommate will help you save money. It’s easier to split everything then having to pay it all yourself. That’s on option.
Idk how the south is with its utility bills (Since the winter storm seemed to have f***ed up texas) but it might cheaper or more expensive.
But yea you’d need to be doing about $2500 to live a borderline comfortable life in a $1000 apartment
Plus if your moving fresh outtta your parents you’ll need $2000+ for appliances/furniture/groceries.
yea im just trying to get a studio not really gonna have a roommate
all ill need extra is wifi
so based on what you all are saying I just need to build my credit and maybe get my W-2 together
I can figure out the credit I dont know about the W-2
gonna go to the bank in the morning to get a credit card and just buy groceries and gas
im trying to get something like this

also I seen people say private landlords.... where would the “public” ones be? Zillow?

Yea you should be good with that.
2200-800=1400 rent
1400-150=1250 utilities
So you’d be doing a whole month on $1250 for groceries/gas/car note/etc.
But the more the better obviously.
And since you resell stuff I’d say making at least $2400+ gives you room to save

Places like this are usually very strict on the leasing requirements just so you know
All I really got is my mom and I kind of want to do this on my own
I have time before ill be moving out so I can try and build credit
I think I just want to get this done by the end of the year no rush
do you pay for your phone plan?

If you’ve deposited your money into a savings account then you can prolly use your bank statements are proof of income, you can ask at whatever place your decide to rent at.
Then secure a job before renting they see your gonna have future income.

Renting from that place is gonna need you proving actual income and it being at least $3000 a month

If you really want to live there you're going to need some racks saved up that's for single people that make a s*** ton of money but don't want to commit to a house. Them type of places don't just let anyone in.
Be more realistic, it's probably going to be something simpler and outside the city but it's just a start
also I seen people say private landlords.... where would the “public” ones be? Zillow?
When I was looking for my aprtment i usually only saw them on Facebook marketplace/newspaper ads/Craigslist’s.
is that illegal ?
or is it just on a if they accept me type of thing
It's legal. You might be able to get a private landlord to accept you if you are willing to pay 4-6 months upfront and do a background check. But that's a red-flag itself. You just present too many red-flags in general. Non-steady income..no credit..no previous landlord experience. It's going to be rough to get a place w/o a cosigner.
if this is your first apt and no credit score you might need to get your parents to sign off on some s***. I remember I needed some s*** from my parents the first time I moved out.
2-3rd time I moved my friends had someone move out of their spot and I just moved in w/o telling their landlord and just gave my friend my portion of the rent and he would pay in full. I think this might be illegal tho but tbh landlords prolly don’t give a s*** as long as they get their payments on time + no complaints from neighbors
Places like this are usually very strict on the leasing requirements just so you know
meaning I wouldn't be able to break my lease ??

so I would have to show them that my bank statements and that im making money and that should be good ??

hopefully by then im going to have a good credit score
just watched this graham Stephen video and he said all I would have to do is not miss a payment and dont max out my card just use a small percentage
Didn't realize it was so easy to get approved for a credit card
should be in the mail soon

It depends on the company/person. But it’s worth asking

Yea it is lmfao. They usually just vary by interest price and credit limit.
Once you have it for a year call and try to get the interest rate lowered

I dought im going to let interest grow on it im just going to use to to do my regular gas and grocery payments like once a month and pay on a certain date
not really gonna buy anything crazy with it
Not really sure, preferably lower manhattan or greenpoint but I don't think I'll be able to make that work on my starting salary without roommates, which im hoping to avoid. Upper east side seems good for the value, I could prob swing a studio there. what about you?
Upper east side is decent for sure. I been looking into Bushwick & Williamsburg area of brooklyn

your credit won’t be high enough in the next year
