You just gotta be comfortable with saying s*** you think gonna be funny. Not every joke is gonna land. Like someone else said though, don’t ask us bruh, none of us funny like that. You see the same 3 jokes repeated on this site constantly, none of us have any good material

Say less and wait for an opening. Follow your instincts and don't try too hard. You'll be known as a funny person if a higher ratio of things you say is actually funny. Nobody likes a cringy person who is always trying for a laugh.

If you say something and it just dies, get used to the feeling and learn to play it off. That's going to happen and really clever people are good at flipping it into something else.

Basically what helps is understanding that people have different senses of humor, someone can have very dry sarcastic sense of humor or more goofy and random,or very dark etc.

Also important is understanding the dynamic between different people, are they careful not to hurt each others feelings or do they really go in on eachother. Once you kinda get a feel for that the next step is just to try, just say what you think is funny based on the context and situation you are in.

If the joke doesnt hit just take it on the chin and move on, but like others said dont try too hard because otherwise the conversation will feel forced and not natural.

Some people are more naturally funny then others but its like anything in life just practice and you will get better at it

I remember I was watching Aries Spears standup and he made a joke that didnt hit, he waited til the crowd got all silent and he said something like "Fuck yall idgaf, funny to me'' then that got a few laughs again and then he moved on to the next. I think thats really the mentality you should have about it

U need to study Seinfeld and just act like the characters irl
