Honestly I’d tell em to throw that s*** in the trash. No way in hell my boy or daughter finna expect s*** to be handed to them just because. We gotta work hard for it and get that W.

Because a generation got ruined by those and when you combine it with overbearing mothers that believe it’s unfair if everyone doesn’t get a f***ing trinket causes kids to be entitled punks imo.

Never that for me we try hard so we can win. If you lose well it’s ok just use that pain as motivation to get ready for next time.

edit: also a lot of people in this thread are basically going to extremes as if I wouldn't congratulate my kid on their effort or make them feel like s***. Ayo you need to f***ing chill with that shook pearl clutching mentality its not that deep

I thought about that at first but I’m still conflicted on it.
Like I don’t want em to expect something, and I’d rather get this idea out of their head asap. S*** I probably tell them you already got a nice jersey from the team so ya don’t need this participation trinket

@OP I don't think that's how juxtaposition works, there has to be some contrast between the two things, parents coddling their children and participation trophies aren't contrasting things.

  • Feb 20, 2021

Anyway think kids should feel entitled to things, everyone should, otherwise society would just become stagnant with a bunch of self-loathing dweebs, trying to justify why their lives are s*** to themselves.

Of course I’d tell them I’m proud of their effort, but I’d let them know we don’t need trinkets for that that. We just gotta go harder for next time ya dig?

Am I supposed to treat my kid like garbage to balance out someone else giving them a trophy that I find problematic? lol

Sometimes the hardest part is bringing yourself to participate. I know a lot of adults relate to that.

mmm i used to love these

  • Feb 20, 2021

Yeah, I agree with you OP, the concept of participation trophy keeps losers being losers.

I understood too late in life that you should always be in first places etc. in order to really gain something, as people don't care about those who don't do their best.
