Their go to argument is “I've had a box of bullets and several guns sitting here in my house for 20 years and they never killed anyone ”.

There’s a clear logical bend here. A man in a hotel room can’t kill 60+ people across the street with his bare hands.

I thought the go to argument for this was

“Guns don’t kill people.. people kill people”

I’m saying this for the sake of argument I don’t really support gun control, in the crucial moments that you might need to protect your life ,family, or assets you should be prepared instead of being in the mercy of a merciless asssilant

The error in that argument is that you could cause just as much damage with a pressure cooker or a large vehicle, yet no one would ever say that a pressure cooker or a UHaul truck alone kills people.

A gun is just a tube with a breech block and a pin. You can make a serviceable firearm out of two pipes and a nail, yet none of things alone kill anyone by themself.

That's not true. White people love the police and stock up guns.
If anything they want to become the police without actually being one

You can defend yourself fine with a pistol. Regular civilians acting like they have combat training and would make any difference with a AK are mad funny. Most people in an active shooter situation are gonna fold regardless of what they have on em

Yes it would be ideal if there weren’t 1 billion+ guns in the US. But that’s not realistic. Pretty certain that’s the number of legal firearms in the states. Add in illegal weapons and we could be close to 4-5 weapons per person on average. There’s zero chance that people are gonna give back enough guns to make any kind of dent.

However, it’s insanely stupid that all it takes in certain states is to walk into an auction with an ID. Background check people, deny the right for felons and people with confirmed mental health issues. There’s things to do to combat the gun issue.

The biggest obstacle for lot of people when it comes to guns are having the nobility to using the weapon. Plus s*** like AR’s and other assault rifles especially in this country are unnecessary, this ain’t a warzone.

Guns do kill people but I only agree with stricter gun laws if we also address the mental health problems and class divisions that spawn so much of the gun violence in the United States. Guns ultimately are the tool for death in a shooting situation, but that tool needed a user, and understanding how someone gets to that point is how we stop this in the future, AS WELL AS stricter gun laws. I wouldn't like, stop a gun law from being passed, if there wasn't a complimentary mental health reform, but I also wouldn't expect major change either. The UK with their knifings is kind of proof of that.

It's literally just two sizes of mild steel tubing that fit snugly over each other, and a steel cap with a small nail welded to it fixed to the end as the firing pin.

People have this idea that guns are some galaxy-brain technology when, in reality, they're just a simple feat of physics and basic engineering. Even a fully automatic rifle is little more than a well-optimized musket, produceable by anyone with access to a hardware store and common power tools.
