They 180'd on everything after the insane backlash but it took like a solid 2 months of b****ing from what I remember.

These decisions were despised since day 1 but initially Xbox's response was "tough s***"

After a month or 2 of them giving two middle fingers to the consumer they realized that those people actually have brains for themselves and the prediction was they were no longer going to buy Xbox.

So they flip flopped everything.

Gamepass sounds really good now, but a decade from now we won't be able to play games unless we are paying monthly fees.
