HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, syphilis, and herpes are done thru blood tests
    urine tests do everything else

Realistically I think you need to be experiencing what appears to be an outbreak for you to get definitive answers on Herpes

I thought you had to stick something in your d*** hole for a std test. It’s really as easy as just peeing inna cup now???

U think you Salvatore lucania in boardwalk empire or something ? What you talking about man

Typically when you go for a screening they draw blood to test for hepatitis and HIV .

However they don’t test herpes because if you have had a herpes cold sore before (very common), you will pop positive for genital herpes even if you never had an infection in that area at all.

They prefer to wait until you experience a herpes outbreak, in which upon visual inspection , they will determine if it is in fact a herpes infection .

I literally read the fine print of my planned parenthood paper that explained all this , maybe you should read more or something idk

I actually read a lot but part of being discerning is knowing what information to focus on the most.

Definitely should have read more about all this in the past before now though lol.

uhhh, you usually don't get your test results back same day

the more i read this thread i think op is trolling for some reason

They have something called insti hiv tests where they prick your finger and test the s*** and you get your results in legit like 1-2 minutes. It tests for antibodies that your body would have produced if you were exposed, at least that’s what the clinician told me.

Op sounds worried but I read the op and it’s basically saying “I have no reason to worry”

I was worried because I didn’t realize urine tests weren’t comprehensive tests for other major std concerns besides clap/gonorrhea and I guess I just got paranoid as f*** due to unresolved scares in the past idk.

Don’t need anything affecting my future married life.

Thank you. Have definitely grown a lot in many ways in these last few years. I’m a lot more discerning with people and my time and resources and risks. Very risk averse at this point in my life. I will still take risks but the right risks, at the right time.

I know that was kind of my gimmick for a long time but to be frank, that is all I focused on or cared about in the past. That isn’t my priority any more, but I did have concerns because of how I lived in the past.

Funnily enough, I haven’t been sexually active in some months because I’ve been focused on locking in with my job and me and my girl are also on some celibacy s*** for spiritual reasons.

You could test negative multiple times but have it . Nothing worth stressing over if you never had an outbreak

Wait really? So if you weren’t having an outbreak (assuming you had it for sure) and got tested, you’re saying it could come back as negative/inconclusive?

    Scary

God is good and I am a changed man in some ways.

I am not perfect but I am still trying to be better and elevate for my family, my future family (wife + kids), myself and the people I care about or come into contact with.

I’m still skeptical of others or self-prioritizing in situations where I feel that I have to be but I hold myself to different standards now at this point in my life. I can’t go back to doing the same s*** I did in the past. Wasn’t optimal.

Yeah honestly after I got that negative hiv result I felt so relieved. I was going to get herpes tested today too but the places I was looking at said the s*** could cost like 100-130/150ish even with insurance and I still might need an appointment.

I’m like f***, should I keep pressing on to get this done today? Not like I didn’t have other s*** to do.

I will get that done after doing more research in the next couple weeks or so even though I’m like 99% sure I don’t have anything to worry about. I just like certainty. Life has taught me I’m actually prone to anxiety and neuroticism under stress even though I still get s*** done in make or break moments.

There isn’t enough emphasis in life on teaching people how to deal with the stressors of life in a healthy conducive way, something I’ve been working on personally.

Every doctor I've ever spoken to about it is like, we can, but they're prone to false positives if you've ever had chickenpox, etc. so I've always been told unless you're experiencing symptoms/going through an outbreak, it's hard to get a conclusive result.

And then there's HPV .. You could have it as a guy, and likely do if you're sexually active. There's no test for it, you only know if you get warts and even then it's not a sure thing. The reason why this bugs me is because of the health implications for you/your girl down the line .. Been thinking about getting the vax lately, me and my girl, just as a precaution.. I've read it can help even if you've already been exposed.

no, the blood test can detect herpes even if you’re asymptomatic at the time of testing

You might carry HPV which causes cancer in women, unless you elected to be vaccinated

There is no test for HPV in males, as you don’t have a cervix to swab

Well s***, I didn’t even think about that.

So my girl would have to get tested? I told her I wanted her to get tested again too just in case, for health purposes.

If I got tested (urine std test) like last year and tested negative for chlymydia and gonorrhea and was told I have nothing to worry about by the medical staff, it’s extremely unlikely that I have any underlying conditions of some major s*** like HIV/Herpes or anything right?

I don’t have any symptoms or anything to really prompt this thinking but I’m just kind of paranoid from stumbling upon threads on Reddit related to that randomly so I figured I’d ask cause I read some threads where mfs talked about living with HIV Aids & herpes and other s*** and how they didn’t know they had anything and then it just popped up out of nowhere and changed their life.

and I thought to myself “fuck I was really a f***ing fool not THAT many years ago because I was being very promiscuous and having almost exclusively raw s***with a lot of random women I seriously did not know well enough”

I’ve been in a relationship for 2.5 years at this point and have never cheated on my partner and likewise she is loyal to me, we are 100% monogamous, so I’m not not really worried in that regard. I’m just type worried because I was a s***addict like RIGHT before we got together, I was out here wylin.

I will set up a more extensive test within the next couple months to get some peace of mind (which I’m not really worried fr fr this is really just paranoia but I just keep thinking about how easily I could have caught some life altering s*** from how I was moving, s*** is crazy )

You can still have localised Aids in and around your a******. You need an a*** swab to make sure

Hmm HPV is the most common sexually transmitted virus there is, even more common than herpes. Nearly everyone who is sexually active has caught it, but not all strains are known to be harmful or cause cervical cancer.

Your girl should ideally see an ob/gyn for women’s health, I believe it’s routine testing at this point. There is a swab that checks for cervical cancer and HPV.

But I understand a lot of people don’t have insurance or other circumstances prevent them from seeking routine care.

Hope this helps frame things nicely. I’m no expert in female anatomy so maybe someone else can chime in 😜
