I’ve been kinda thinking about it. I just want the perks with the least amount service required in a non combative position. I feel like at 24 I’m kinda too old for it tho

Do you have a bachelors? If so only join as an officer and try to go to ocs

If you have an associates you can join as an E3.
Nothing to be ashamed about dawg, it’s only slightly older than a regular ol enlisted nigga

This site ain’t gon wanna hear it but OP right.

In the next few months I’ll be working for the NSA with house paid for, food paid for, bonus money every month for my specific job, and a signing bonus of $40k

Plus I can reup and get a bonus of $100k, or get out and get free college or get a decent paying job with the agencies/contracting since I also have a Top Secret clearance now.

Some things about the military suck, but that’s life in general. I still like the perks of it.

So what happens when you become an officer?

What benefits or job do you get?

As an officer think of yourself as a manager. I could type up a long post for you but that’s the gist of it.

Instead of doing the work you just make sure that everyone else has their work done and y’all function properly. You also tend to handle the paper work, make powerpoints and give briefs.

You get the same benefits just higher pay and don’t have to live in a barracks with a bunch of dudes and a higher quality of life. Also being an officer in the military looks good as hell on a job application

If you’re serious about it and actually want to know I can give you some advice. Don’t go see a regular ol recruiter either

You’ll probably deal with a lot of ppl slightly younger than you as peers, but you can join as old late 30s. I think 38 is the cut off in the air force

Exactly bro, people don’t see it for what it is. I forget how closeminded people can be, especially when it comes to the service. People have stereotypes and preconceived notions of s*** when it couldn’t be farther from the truth. A lot of civilians couldn’t pass a h/w acft or apt to save their lives anyways, not like they are qualified in the first place

And Good for you my g are you thinking of staying on? The bonuses they been throwing out lately are fuego

Yeah it really ain’t how niggas think it is lmao.

But If I’m not e5 by the time my contract ends I’m out lol.

I need the MAX promotion points just to be an NCO and that s*** never drops

    I make more than a e5 tho

    Interesting

What if you have bachelors degree already, would that benefit you more?

I would like to learn more about this. Where can I get all the basic info and stuff?

    Is there a age limit?

Yeah so..If you have a bachelors degree already I recommend you don’t enlist...you have that piece of paper use it to your advantage. If you have a degree you can become an officer, granted you have all the other requirements you need met. Go see an officer recruiter and get a packet dropped for OCS.

The first step is googling information and finding what is right for you. You want to walk into the recruiters office already having an idea of what you want and having a general gist of the process down. I can tell you information and how to find it but it’s up to you to decide if it’s right for you

    thebalancecareers.com/army-officer-candidate-school-ocs-enlistment-option-3344804

Also just to give you some advice; if you don’t work out now start to do so. All you gotta do is run, do push-ups, and sit ups. Part of being an officer is always being in top shape

You can ask @Josuke how bad of a look it can be for an officer to be in bad shape or barely passing a pt test

Part of the reason people think being in the army is so hard on the body is the fact that they themselves can’t handle the physical toll, when truthfully if you take care of yourself it’s really not THAT much

  • NakedBalenciaga

You can join the military but you’ll never ever get your b**** back

A lot of really common cadences they have to do involve “Jody” f***ing all their girls, too

Yeah if you feel stuck in life go get stuck in a barracks with 6 year olds strapping bombs to their chest running towards you oh yeah don't forget to shoot the kid to save yourself can't forget about that good ol PTSD and trauma and yeah you'll get a Camaro too lots of trunk space to carry that trauma in as you drive to Walgreens to pick up your monthly dose of Wellbutrin that you get a discount using your military ID while the pharmacist gives you a big smile and says "ha thank you for your service!" And you cry a little inside wondering where that kid would've been in life by now if he'd just been born three countries left and had not been manipulated by adults to strap a bomb to his chest in the name of 40 virgins.

So do you still get sent to boot camp or not?

And you have to choose which branch you want to become an officer with?

I have no issues with physical training, been fit and working out regularly for over 8 years now. So I’m well above your average person when it comes to physical strength and fitness.

Will check those links for more info.

Def can be worth it if you have the right mindset and don't end up getting trapped in it for 20+ years, but I've always been good on joining the military despite growing up poor. I don't like being controlled to that degree

One time an army recruiter somehow texted my dad (I never even gave his number to any of them) and my dad hmu saying you better not be joining

Idk if he has anything against it but when he was young he enlisted but then regretted it and got his guy friend to act like they were a couple just to get out of it

With army OCS, you go to basic training first then officer candidacy school

So you can pick which branch of service you go into..I dropped the army links and can tell you about the army process cause Im familiar with the army process...it’s different for every branch

Personally bro I would recommend Air Force and coast guard first and explore every branch and which one is the right fit for you

And it’s good you work out bro you’re already ahead of the curve

If you look more into it and start the process and need info I’ll be happy to help or tell you stuff. Best of luck my guy

  • May 8, 2021

I’m in it now and it’s not the move if you’re depressed. If you are f***ed in real life, the military will be worse. We have way too many mhe patients and sailors who want out, it’s quite sad.
