Simply what you’re asking is: can a people of a certain race or within a distinct group or of a specific ethnicity have a specific characteristic more commonly than other groups of people defined in the same way.

The answer is: yes they can.

This is possible through a combination of genetics inherited from previous generations of that subset of people and environmental factors. The ability to have a high level of academic intelligence and a high IQ can partially be attributed to genetic inheritance. People always say things like their kids are great at maths like their dad or are good a lot drawing like their grandparent etc. At the same time, being in an environment that allows people to reach their peak academic intelligence helps; be it through being able to flourish in certain aspects of their life with limited stress or through culture or your environment nurturing these traits. Your environment can influence your genetics to some extent, not all traits can be altered, and not all twists that can be altered can be altered to the same degree. Look up SNPs if you’re interested in this.

When a distinct group of people have a combination of the genetic propensity to have certain traits (physical, psychological etc.), live in an environment that nurture these traits and pro-create within that distinct group of people, the traits become evidently more prevalent in this group compared to other populations.

FYI, I know what I’m talking about because I’m trained as a Biomedical Scientist and studied genetics throughout my degree.

The thing is it’s hard to prove this sort of thing with certain traits (e.g. intelligence, strength) in humans distinctly and scientifically through studies. Although interesting as a thought experiment, ethically studying this is in the eugenics territory which is completely wrong. Scientifically proving a group of people has more desirable traits and that another group has undesirable traits fuels racism and division amongst different groups. It’s also hard to study accurately and scientifically in a controlled environment as mentioned previously environment plays a big part in individuals reaching their potential for specific traits.
