If this album seperates the fakes from the real, I'm a fake. I genuinely think the sound of the album has potential, especially in the songs where he just sings passionately or just sounds really expressive and raw (I think that rawness is the essence of this album, this and a lot of anger), and the catchier songs here. It's bad singing but has a flavor to it.
Most of the bad songs here are either the ones where he's rapping seriously (I don't think he's rapping that well here) or ones where I just didn't like the production. This made me appreciate Dot Da Genius, Plain Pat and Emile, I think it works better with Cudi having less control?
It's sort of like how Tarantino's movies now are like 3 hours long bc his longtime editor passed away and the new ones let him rock like that. If you're a big Tarantino fan and love his style and personality you might even like him better this way. I feel like it's a similar case for Cudi as this is a huge fan favorite. I'm happy he got to do his vision and exactly what he wanted. I understand why it's some people's favorite. However this is the first Cudi album with skips and songs I genuinely don't like.
Btw got into a bad trip so might've affected my thoughts.
Score: 5/10
Fav songs: Unfuckwittable, Just What I Am, King Wizard, Red Eye.
What are the skips for you on here? Only weak points for me are Young Lady lyrics, Girls hook and Afterwards
Real for wzrd>indicud
Indicud was such a let down, caught me way off guard bc i loved the first 2 albums and the singles
Did Chip the ripper stop rapping? Why did Cudi just stop putting him on albums?
they had so many good tracks together, its a shame
He’s real for using this beat

Yeah WZRD got some amazing songs and it feels like the OG Cudi. Indicud is the real switch in sound.

Girls, and most of the second half is just boring. All of the instrumental cuts. Some songs just go on for too long.

Nah I do hear you! It's probably Cudi's most front loaded album from the intro to Solo Dolo II
But Red Eye, Mad Solar, Brothers, Burn Baby Burn and Cold Blooded are crazy good too
It's safe to say this album changed the face of hip hop opening the door to new rappers and musicians to try a different style of rapping and putting more emotion and melody to it.
I think this album aged incredibly it has a unique sound and even though it sounds like late 2000's I just love everything he did here. It's a grand sounding album and yet very simple with the lyrics and beats. This album is hip hop mixed with pop, electronic, indie etc. almost seamlessly into one sound. Love the dreamy / "druggy" songs the most.
It's uplifting and comforting and while there's corniness, it's part of his personality and the album gives off a very honest, genuine feel. One of my favs I haven't checked for a while. Forgot how much I used to like it.
Score: 10/10
Fav songs: Heart of a Lion, Sky Might Fall, Pursuit of Happiness, Hyyerrr.
Soundtrack 2 my life not in the favs??
Pillow Talk gotta be one of my fav cudi songs
Listened to that song to hype myself up to lose my virginity lmao
Real
Indicud is a mixed bag for people, so I'm not surprised that you didn't like it.
So it what it is
But to me, I think it's really great album, it has some of his best rapping imo. I think his bars were slept on this project. You might disagree, but that's where I stand with this project.
