Look at the post above tho
Oh s*** my bad
yeah that’s a pretty crazy footnote and the project is really important for that alone

Yeah it’s a good sample.
The project reminds me of Plastic Beach / The Fall which is why I compared to Gorillaz. I also saw ppl on RYM comparing it to Flylo. IMO it falls flat from both of them. Maybe unfair bc it’s just an indie project but the off key s*** he did there was not my thing.
OFWGKTA - Radical

No criticism really just a really fun mixtape! Really makes you appreciate the strength of OF roster: Tyler, Earl, Hodgy, Mike G, Domo, all went hard and it's refreshing to hear them over mainstream hip hop beats. In a lot of these songs they turned it into their own thing and they have a different vibe than the original songs. I think this is less talked about because it's less dark and representative of their sound but it's fun and worth a listen for sure. MVP is Earl who has crazy verses here.
Fav songs: Splatter, Drop, Blade, Round And Round, Orange Juice.
you know who really bang a set my nigga mike g
repping till he OD
and he probably will
Domo Genesis - Rolling Papers

It's pretty cool like, I got high for this and it didn't blow my mind or anything but some highlights here, nice d***gy production by Tyler and a nice chill vibe for the album, plus I like the cover and title I think Domo can go hard with it. Sometimes a little too chill and I like weed rap in general so it says something when it sounds more lowkey than Wiz and Curren$y. Still it's an album that knows what it wants to be and shows some of Domo's potential. Overall pretty good and I can see myself going back to it if I'm faded and see it being a grower.
Fav songs: Domier, Rolling Papers, Steamroller, Last Roll.
MellowHype - Blackenedwhite

This is the one. I repeat, this is the one. After not feeling Hodgy's releases and verses before, this album shows a lot of growth for him and Left Brain, who drops the hardest production so far. It's just so grimey and Hodgy raps on it with a lot of energy. This feels like what a OF project should sound like. Dark, electronic with aggressive flows. One of the best albums so far. Hodgy really likes rapping about killing cops lol.
Fav songs: Primo, 64, Hell, Deaddeputy, Loco, Chordaroy.
Blackenedwhite is so hard. Still the best project from Mellowhype imo. And it's refreshing to hear Left Brain production instead of Tyler.

The best Tyler production from this era IMO. So many fire songs on here

Classic
That 09 - 12 run from them was crazy, definitely an important part of the mixtape era.
Excited to see OP's review of PNL if he does one.

Of course I will
The Jet Age of Tomorrow - Journey to the 5th Echelon

Mid boring album with longer songs and less going on than the first album. My least favorite act on OF by far and I don't get the hype. The songs with vocals save it a little but I'd rather hear any of these rappers on different beats. To make this review more positive I recommend the following producers from this era: Flying Lotus, Burial, Shlohmo, Four Tet, Bonobo, Clams Casino, Tokimonsta, Tycho. For good instrumental music check them out.
Summary of 2010:
Almost every Odd Future member got to shine this year with each having a debut mixtape, they're definitely a group to watch for at this point and it makes sense they were gathering a lot of popularity and an audience at the time. Very different vibe for hip hop at the time especially Tyler. But all the other members bring their own style and unique take on this sound. My other favorites at this point are Earl and Hodgy. This is the most stacked year with projects so far but can't wait to hear them develop over time.
