i get what ur saying but people who dont have that much traditional talent can also have a hot two songs. also is it a talent to promote urself efficiently? open to discussion on that

I think part of 4batz plant claims is that he promoted himself efficiently with the use of a big bag and probably the best connection you can have in music from Gamma/Larry Jackson and his managers connections as creative director at RCA

Yea I don’t get that part either tbh. Maybe they’re using the OVO imprint to push his brand as far as they can since Sexyy didn’t need all of that with her social media presence, relationships and catalogue

well the ovo deal kinda makes sense since its just an EP deal. but the announcement said he was in a bidding war with the major labels

That’s probably just something Larry told Billboard to include in the article since the owner of Billboard is a major investor in Gamma 😂 this whole s*** smoke and mirrors

Promoting yourself efficiently is a talent. Assuming you’re doing the bulk of the creative and business side of it. Not if you got money and just hire a team to do it.

Industry plant is only a problem if the artist is constantly making their growth seem unapologetically organic rather than their ability to use connections well. Hence why noone gives a f*** that Keems somewhat of a plant, cos he openly raps about Kendrick putting him on.

Whereas people had a problem with Chance cos he used connections and made it seem like he was this beacon of independence artistry, and that anyone can do it. As encouraging as his message was, it came across inauthentic when people delved further into his come up. I say this as someone who never cared and still love his first three projects lol

Yep. i made this exact point in the video lol. industry plant has just become a word for artist gaining steam that i dont personally like

he wasnt necessarily working directly w larry and the gamma folks, at least not in the beginning, he was on vydia which is owned by gamma but its more like. you go to them and make your own label. so he was working with whoever made that imprint using vydia’s services

tbh act i went mildly viral and act ii went super viral so idk. u think maybe it just resonated more cause act ii is a super streamable song and the rmr song was a little less accessible / catchy?

yea its about even more than him, just like, we're so doubting of the music industry now that people just assume that theyre being lied to at all times. i dont blame them but damn

I think it helped act ii was more of a serious song compared to RMR’s viral hit

But it’s extremely rare for an artist to blow up after 2 songs and no project and have a high quality music video all while being independent

  • hadji

would be a fire segue into a sponsored ad when i get my money up

    lmao absolutely
