I mean I think most of us come from a generation where new artists already had some body of work (series of singles/mixtapes/lossies/etc.) before they popped. I think why people find this suspicious is that there’s only 3 songs (only 2 before he truly went viral). He absolutely could have had tracks in the vault before releasing anything that he was able to get in front of the RCA employee that enabled the strategy to be set up and set in motion but that doesn’t seem to be confirmed.
Regardless I agree if the musics good it doesn’t matter at the end of the day. I know as a music nerd if I find someone new I like I want to dig into their old s*** and their history to see if I want to buy in and that’s where some of these “new plants” don’t have any point of reference to go to and it seems fishy.
I think people get so hurt over the industry plants is because it’s almost always a nepotism situation where someone (who may or may not be talented at all) gets to skip the process and have the funding / resources to go live the dream that many others (who may be much more talented or put much more work in) will never get to achieve.
Glad for his success hope he has a project in the works.
It’s derivative asf, brent could sue for how blatant the swagger jacking is. It’s nothing breaking the mold, another “viral” sensation that plays into the “why is modern music so temporary” criticism ppl have lol.

Hmmm im curious on what you found. Obviously it’s known that his manager works for RCA (allegedly?) but him signing to OVO for a one EP release is… interesting. Definitely shows he’s moving with the expertise of a veteran lol
yea its about even more than him, just like, we're so doubting of the music industry now that people just assume that theyre being lied to at all times. i dont blame them but damn
yeah it pushes past being critically aware and goes into the space of being a full blown cynic and hater lmaooo
industry plant has become a phrase used for people that came out of nowhere and have success/associations that people feel they’re undeserving of and that’s really a hater outlook to me
it’s a ton of artists that have/had no label listed on their releases and posture themselves as indie and i can go on all music and see who they’re lying about being signed to. nobody knows and it honestly doesn’t matter. it’s like the fans are losing the plot that music is about who you enjoy the most
