The way Black people that aren't of the Black American DACS ethnic group view "Americanism" so positively is so weird to me.

Like the talk of assimilating into Americanism... What does that even mean?

  • LITA

How when we don’t even have universal health care and free education? Please stop being delusional and buying into this “American dream” myth
It doesn’t exist for millions of marginalized people
Not saying other countries are better btw but at least they afford social security to their citizens

i thought this was the year every american realized yall country aint s***

    sadly i was wrong

America still has a long way to go but its probably the least racist country in the world. if white people go to Asia they won’t view you as an equal, if Asians go to South America they won’t view you as an equal, if black people go to the Middle East they won’t view you as an equal. Nowhere else has the level of diversity and the experience dealing with other cultures that America does.

Most of America is segregated lol
Do you realize how many Americans have never interacted with let’s say a muslim American? You guys think all of America is as diverse as NYC or what

I live in NYC... And its still segregated.

The neighborhood I grew up in was only Black people. I hadn't even met any Black Muslims until some family friends that are 5%ers started coming around (and obviously that's a different type of Muslim American)

No, of course not, but in major cities integration exists, and the potential is there to be viewed as an equal or at least close for any race. Would have a hard time saying that for the majority of the world.

None of this matters anyway, this kind of topic is just distraction lmao Anti-Blackness is global and instead of trying to figure out what's the closest to least bad, attempt to end Anti-Blackness.

I may be a little uneducated on this but have other countries with majority white and minority black population had black people in roles such as president/prime minister besides America?

  • Jun 3, 2020

I think of that episode of futurama where Bender was god and watched these unique, new race just blow themselves up for stupid reasons when they were equal and fat away from other planets.

the uk isnt as racist from what ive heard. london at least

i heard they are way more casually racist to arabs/indians in europe too

Don’t believe this s***, it just takes a different form. The British are just more subtle with racism

  • Jun 3, 2020

The best? My man this country was dependent on the exploitation of black people before it was even a country

  • Jun 3, 2020

    Racism will never end man

    I hv heard this

That in places like in Germany and Northern Europe it’s worse to be turkish or middle eastern than black

Dnt kno how tru that is tho probably becuase no black people live there anyway

First of all, i think you will find racism everywhere in the world in some type of way. People tend to categorize themselves and 'the other'.

Then bout Europe: Most of the black people in European countries from old colonies and African refugees. There is definately a lot of racism against black people, but it's more hidden and sneaky. Violence is much rarer (for now). People will be less racist in your face, and more behind your back here in Europe compared to the USA, it seems

This is purely a feeling, i don't know if it's completely true, but it indeed seems to be the case that people from the Middle East have to deal with racism more than black people in Europe. It has a lot to do with islam, a cultural clash, while most black people from colonies kinda made the existing culture of the country they live in their own (def not completely tho)

Most Western European countries multicultural, and while there is racism, people can def express their own culture if you know what i mean. It's not that they go up in the primary culture of the country completely. Many European countries have a way bigger modern left wing too, which is usually more open to other cultures than white conservatives (which dominate the US)

Eastern Europe is another beast where there is barely any diversity. Neo-nazism is bigger too. Same for southern Europe. Italy, a beautiful country btw, is the cradle of fascism. They also have to deal with more African refugees, and theres a lot of xenophobia. I honestly don't know how bad those Africans had it in their own country, but as a refugee it's hard to live in countries like Greece, Italy, France (Turkey too if we count them). It's not for nothing most refugees cluster in the wealthier Western European countries (who still have a lot racists but def less than in the east/south)

Depends how u define “best” I guess. Here in the UK the racism is often a lot more implicit, so you generally avoid the levels of hatred and violence that whites seems to be comfortable perpertrating in the US - as with much of Europe the real vitriol of organised far right atm is directed towards “Muslims” (I.e. anyone who looks vaguely Arab / Indian) rather than black people, altho obv a lot of those people are really just racist full stop.

Flipside there’s no real black communities outside of a few big cities, so I imagine growing up black in the suburbs/country is a very isolating experience. Anecdotally it always seems to me that black people growing up in these environments have really gone through constant “banter” at the expense of their race which has become so normalised it’s common to see them making self-depreciating jokes.

This defo has a massive impact on people’s self worth and identity even tho they don’t necessarily realise it as they’re growing up. Fortunately a lot of universities have strong black communities and Afro Caribbean Societies so a lot of people are able to thrive in that environment

    Damn that's sad af

Especially North Africans (specifically Moroccans) here in the Netherlands.

Ironically Moroccans are racist as f*** towards black people themselves.

Black girlfriend had a Morrocan ex but his family hated her so it was over real quick

Sad af. Also if the fam racist i would go w the gf and leave them weirdos in the dust but guess family bond is more important, even if they racist

  • Jun 3, 2020

London is likely the best place in the world for black people to live. It's not the same across the UK though.

I more or less agree except that white conservatives dominate America

That’s a myth. The politicians are more corporatists due to corruption and trumps base is only 35% of the voting population

The average American isn’t a far right winger. Most Americans do hold economic left wing beliefs and on social issues are center leftish polling shows this
