I may be a little uneducated on this but have other countries with majority white and minority black population had black people in roles such as president/prime minister besides America?
Nope!
None of this matters anyway, this kind of topic is just distraction lmao Anti-Blackness is global and instead of trying to figure out what's the closest to least bad, attempt to end Anti-Blackness.
This will never happen until there’s a rich black country so that wasn’t really the point of the thread
Hopefully some african country reaches first world soon. Hopefully ghana or some s***
I more or less agree except that white conservatives dominate America
That’s a myth. The politicians are more corporatists due to corruption and trumps base is only 35% of the voting population
The average American isn’t a far right winger. Most Americans do hold economic left wing beliefs and on social issues are center leftish polling shows this
I agree w you most USA politicians corporatists, it seems you can only be a politician in the US when you rich. Lobby groups from big corporations have also way too much influence
I don't think you're right bout the left wing ideologies from Americans tho. Otherwise they wouldnt primarily vote for Dems or Reps, which are right wing parties
Europe has actual center, center-left and left socialdemocratic parties
The two leading parties in the US value mostly (center) right wing policies

Nigeria could actually do it if there wasnt so f***ing much corruption
the uk isnt as racist from what ive heard. london at least
i heard they are way more casually racist to arabs/indians in europe too
this is not true. london is very racist.
Nigeria could actually do it if there wasnt so f***ing much corruption
Easily
Im actually of nigerian heritage funnily
10 yrs ago it looked like they were on the path but now i dnt even kno
There’s a large middle class but the economy is just too inequal and the govt dsnt seem interested in investing in infrastructure

Well that has to do with the corruption in the political system as opposed to actual beliefs
If you look at the voters that went bernie in 2016 and 2020 or vote for people like aoc and s*** id say roughly 35% of the democratic party holds solid left wing social democratic beliefs and an even greater number would have no problem voting for a democrat with such beliefs
The issue lies with the party establishments, corporate media etc
i think the difference is there's at least an idea in america of "black american" being an existing and legitimate concept (i'm not talking white supremacists, i'm just talking among the average person), regardless of one's idea of what such constitutes. There's an an idea of "indian american" or "asian american" or the like. There's no such thing as "black hungarian" for example. You can be black and you can be in hungary, but no one will ever validate your existence there as part of the country or a legitimate member of their culture. Also other countries are just straight up more openly racist. See what middle-easterns or what south-east asians have to say about africans half the time. America is certainly segmented into a lot of sub-cultural spheres, but each of these spheres recognize the other ones exist, which is I think why the culture here is so unique versus other ones, where instead there's a blanketed, concrete definition of culture, and anything under it, no matter how well in-grained in the country, is foreign.
Damn this wild insightful. Makes me think about myself growing up in Colombia. Most people are fairskinned Mestizos so they all identify as white pretty much. No one calls themselves Black (or Negro) they call themselves “Moreno” or “Morenito” which means tan but obviously stems from the term “moor”. Both Native Colombians and Black Colombians use this term so society sees them as one people in a sense. Colored people are so poor in Colombia they probably don’t even give a f*** whether they’re Native or Black, straight or nappy hair, they still won’t get 3 meals a day. But it also makes me think about how multiracial people like myself and my mother’s family has zero sense of being Black. My grandma’s a straight coon she used to yell at my mom for bringing over dark skin friends to the house cuz no one ever taught her that she herself is Black. And it’s bugged out cuz she’s got cousins that have blatant African dominated genes.

That's crazy, I didn't know that, I really don't know a ton about south american culture like that. middle east & south asia are really similar though (for the most part, some exceptions), even though most of them aren't white to begin with they have a lot of colorism and will treat darker skin complexions like badges of dishonor

The way race works in that area makes no sense to me. So many people in the Arab world look White, Brown, Black. And then in Thailand there’s people that look like half Europeans but they’re actually fully Thai it’s so confusing lmao

unlike south/central america (assumably), a lot of the racism in north africa & the middle east isnt the result of colonization or european influence, it's mostly organic and comes as a result of different factors. like much of it comes from cultural/historical ideas stemming from long historical tensions or events

I wonder if they even look at race remotely the same way as we do here in the America (and presumably some of Europe?) or if they just see color kinda how they do in Colombia.
The thing about race in America is that the people of that race tend to be extremely proud of their race’s culture therefore it creates an social umbrella for all members of that race to participate under. I wonder if that’s missing in the Middle East perhaps. Like if the Europeanized idea of White people isn’t the majority of people there then where does what is even the basis of an superiority complex?

not sure about other south east countries besides India, but there and a lot of the middle east & north africa its less about the intrinsic skin color/race by itself and more about the historical context of what racial identities mean within their traditional societies. Like in Oman for example, Indian Migrants & Africans are basically just seen as laborers, and the hierarchy of laborers is very low societally. Many darker skin Omani Arabs were largely servants or slaves historically and thus still carry a burden because of their historical context. In other parts of the Middle East, i.e. Bahrain, it's because certain "looks" are associated with being from certain parts of the middle east where certain sects of Islam or other relgiions are common, and that association makes people "lesser" in a heirarchy; i.e. people always talk about Israeli-Palestinian Apartheid but Bahrain has literal Shia Apartheid.
American tourist be the loudest most uncomfortable people who think they own the place and show no respect and when they get home they call it racism Only tourists more annoying are Chinese...
it's kinda hilarious a thread about racist countries is filled to the brim with wild generalisations
I hope not if this is the best it gets than we're f***ed
A lot of Southern Europe in general
This thread was inspired by a lot of europeans s***ting on America bcus of these protests. wht they dnt realise is that wht America is going thru rn are the growing pains of a diverse nation trying to move into a multiracial and just society so in that regard US is literally 90% ahead of most european countries bcus they havent even started in the first step. POC in these countries are so disenfranchised and cucked it’s crazy
U couldnt pay me to live in italy as a black person
im black and have family in italy since the 80s they love it
First of all, i think you will find racism everywhere in the world in some type of way. People tend to categorize themselves and 'the other'.
Then bout Europe: Most of the black people in European countries from old colonies and African refugees. There is definately a lot of racism against black people, but it's more hidden and sneaky. Violence is much rarer (for now). People will be less racist in your face, and more behind your back here in Europe compared to the USA, it seems
This is purely a feeling, i don't know if it's completely true, but it indeed seems to be the case that people from the Middle East have to deal with racism more than black people in Europe. It has a lot to do with islam, a cultural clash, while most black people from colonies kinda made the existing culture of the country they live in their own (def not completely tho)
Most Western European countries multicultural, and while there is racism, people can def express their own culture if you know what i mean. It's not that they go up in the primary culture of the country completely. Many European countries have a way bigger modern left wing too, which is usually more open to other cultures than white conservatives (which dominate the US)
Eastern Europe is another beast where there is barely any diversity. Neo-nazism is bigger too. Same for southern Europe. Italy, a beautiful country btw, is the cradle of fascism. They also have to deal with more African refugees, and theres a lot of xenophobia. I honestly don't know how bad those Africans had it in their own country, but as a refugee it's hard to live in countries like Greece, Italy, France (Turkey too if we count them). It's not for nothing most refugees cluster in the wealthier Western European countries (who still have a lot racists but def less than in the east/south)
As a mixed person living in Germany, this is pretty spot on. Where are you from?
im black and have family in italy since the 80s they love it
Thats good to hear but from people ik who just go as tourists experience hsnt been positive
This
It sounds weird saying this but the average american is far less xenophobic than the average white person from europe i feel
lol
