I am talking about the black diaspora, you are aware that most black slaves came from the east and west coasts of africa right?
In every part of the diaspora cultural remnants from those places still remain (rap as a whole and this forum wouldn't exist without that influence).
Nigerians and South africans are different yet they share similair cultural elements too.
Some black americans like to insist that their particular subset defines black culture or even go so far as to act that they are one and the same while that's not true at all.
Black culture is global, crazy I have to explain that on here.
so your point is that all of africa and all african diaspora (excluding african countries with lighter skin tones) are so closely related that it makes sense to treat them all as the same culture?
I understand there's throughlines across neighboring cultures, right, but this is true for any region of the world. South African culture will be similar to Namibian culture. Namibian culture is similar to Angolan culture. Angolan culture is similar to Congolese culture. And so on.
Where I take issue is that this chain doesn't really stop anywhere. It's not like there's an abrupt stop once u hit Egypt, no there are definitely similarities between the culture found in northern Sudan and southern Egypt. There not a clear break between tunisia and sicily either. And so on and so forth.
it seems like ur drawing an arbitrary line to fit some imagined skin color paradigm

My point was that black culture doesn't just apply to black americans.
We can argue about semantics all day but im not gonna do that

There's a certain level of black culture that is global, but as a whole, there are too many key differences to just call it Black Culture.
Guinean people have nothing in common with East African countries. Hell within their own countries there are huge divides and culture clashes between regions.
People from Cape Verde, Madeira, Angola or Mozambique all have a unique experiences themselves and even more so compared to Black Brazilians despite the shared Portuguese colonization.
Same with the Caribbean/West Indies blacks and their own culture clashes.

it's almost like skin color is a very arbitrary way to categorize people
