That's the reason why they hit so hard, is because your so invested in the line since you lived through it. That's why alot of people don't attribute drake to being "lyrical" is because in many peoples idea, it isn't that "skillful" to write like that.

Here's some arguements/ideas people have:

1. You might be attributing more meaning to the song because how vague the statement is.

this is why older pop songs are generic " I'm talking about you girl" lyrics so you can paste those feelings they inhibit to a person or situation you have experienced.
