wow this is what ive been trying to articulate for a while now. the personalisation of the web (recc systems, algos etc) has almost made cultural phenomenons obsolete

We’ll see by the end of the decade what’s up. Drake in his late 30’s. It’s the last chapters of his rap career. I don’t think those numbers he puts up will be beat tho.

We still got legends from the 90s and 00s dropping music I’d be stunned if he stopped making music any time soon

The way he approach music I’d be surprised if he continues in his 40’s. Those legends from the 90’s -00’s were a bit more introspective than Drake is not to say that he doesn’t make introspective music. Idk, rap just aged well with Jay and Nas.

Drake can only do this tough guy/bachelor thing for so long till he looks goofy.

He makes music for the 25 and under crowd where the OG’s grew with their audience

Doesn't feel like he's in the last chapters of his career at all. He just dropped 3 projects in 1 year and sounded more inspired than ever on Her Loss. Won't be surprised when he runs another decade especially with nobody stepping up to the plate that can take him off his spot

Don't see why not unless he gets bored of making music. When you've found purpose and fulfillment in doing something you don't just wanna stop doing it when you hit a certain age especially if that passion for it is still there

I mean...Jay's music pre-4:44 was generally pretty hollow. Outside RD, Kingdom Come, and 4:44, Jay's music was filled with braggadocio, swag raps, luxury raps, and reminding you that Beyonce is his girl.

Nothing wrong with that either cause Hov's selling point was his lyricism, flow, and beat selection. But Jay's music as a whole is not all that deep and introspective outside of the 3 albums I named.

Hell, Wayne is my GOAT and has insane longevity but he's not that particularly deep and introspective either outside of C5. Wayne's selling point was his rapping technique and wordplay.

Drake has plenty of fans over 25, especially now. I don't see him tapering off anytime soon. Keep in mind, people have been claiming that Drake will "flop" and fall off as far back as 2013. I remember rap forums claimed NWTS would "flop" because SFTB was the only single out for a long time.

Drake just has the mass appeal that newer rappers simply don't have unless they're full blown pop artists like Doja and LNX. But Drake balances appeal to the streets and appeal to the mainstream like no other rapper after him.

Eh not true. He gives people want they want and that’s why he’s survived so long. Kanye could have but his mental state/pursuit of product stopped him in the long run. Drake is great at genre bending that he can remain at the top if he remains quiet in the media. Casual fans don’t want mfs steering off and changing their sound

Nah, Doja Cat has that potential to be the next star

Maybe Lil Nas X, but he 100% right about hip hop not respecting him so I can see him doing something outside of rap possibly. Idk.
