Nah that's been on the watchlist for a minute tho, Ima peep soon
Hopefully Twitter discourse didn’t overhype it for you too much. I liked it but the way they were talking about it I thought it was gonna be more
the thing is that its moreso a rare thing nowadays that you see a new star come in and actually pick projects where they can be a lead and do well on their own merits rather than just playing a superhero or doing big IP franchises every time. People like Tom Holland or Brie Larson or Michael B Jordan or Robert Pattinson or Hugh Jackman or Zendaya aren't stars and they've shown that time and time again
we havent had a true movie star since Leo and Glen Powell has potential to be the first star since him
Your point is right but I don’t agree with the notion that we haven’t had a movie star since Leo
The phenomenon of audiences caring about IP more than stars didn’t really start until post-Avengers 1
IDK personally. IMO he's played the same nigga in every movie. Handsome, generic, charismatic cac. No range to speak off.
Also @TheInstigator Zendaya is a star, Challengers was a hit and Euphoria is a hit show.
Twisters is barely gonna make its money back lets calm down with the Leo comparisons.
Feel like some people itt and the industry in general rushing to quick to crown him. Let's give it a year or two.
Because we been through this dance before Hollywood hyping up their new generic flavor of the month C***only for that to fade quickly.
Armie Hammer, Taylor Kitsch, Sam Worthington.

Playing the same guy in every move is kind of what a movie star is. Their persona is a draw.
Humble legend too, he’s gonna go all the way
goats respecting goats 🤝

what's the problem
It's over
Glen gon be on the republican ticket with Matthew McConaughey in 2028
trashing gosling to boost this squinty cardboard cutouts comp, then having him come through with the humble fella quote, these agencies getting creative
Glen gon be on the republican ticket with Matthew McConaughey in 2028
These guys can run as democrats now
He’s soo goated
If Leo got Timothee and cruise got Powell then who does Pitt have?
Austin Butler was in Once Upon a Time
I like him. I do find it interesting that he has this media push to be the next big thing. He must have a great team behind the scenes and kissing a lot of ass lol
I don't think the average movie goer gives a f*** about Glen and even if they did it wouldn't sell them on seeing an original movie. Look at Jenna Ortega, she's clearly a star but people only care about her in franchises.

You know A list movie stars were in lots of movies that didn't hit, right?

what's your point? I said nothing about Glen starring in flops lol Nobody's going to see a movie just to see him. There's no hype for him amongst average movie goers. The hype he does have also completely forced, he's a good actor but he has an even better agent. That's it.
Even if he makes it to star status though it'll never come close to the movie star status of the past. IP obsession ruined that for every new actor.

Tom Cruise is in Top Gun two and Mission Impossible 7 and 8, the latter based on a TV show from the 60s.

fam Tom Cruise's movie star status was carried over from the movie star heyday lol and it's pretty obvious his star status doesn't hold the same weight anymore. His biggest hits in the last few years are franchise films.
The Hollywood movie star is dead lol you'll never see any of these new actors get paid a large chunk of a film's budget or box office sales like in the 80's or 90's.
