Alchemist didn't pioneer the drumless loop.
Lol shut up
I didn’t say he invented the thing itself, but he’s the main producer who has led to that sound being dominant in the 2020s and helping to shape a specific type of drumless sound, no f***ing s*** he didn’t invent a drumless loop you dumb ass.

Main producer? No. He definitely helped tho. Don't get mad at me cause u used the wrong term. Do better.

You can be a pioneer in the application of something without inventing said thing.
This site has such a weird hate boner for Alchemist lmao
Ktt loves to hate when things become popular

Yeah but u would have to be among one of the first. Alc is over 10 years late on it. That style started with the sp404. That's what Earl used on SRS
did he keep that same energy for Metro? cus lifeless and robotic is exactly how i feel when i hear a metro beat
Imagine not feeling something when this come on:

Alchemist was already leaning towards this sound by like 2011-2012 with certain beats for Currensy and Action Bronson, and on Domo’s No Idols.
I’m confused, are you giving SRS credit for pioneering the sound? Fetti came out a month before and was on the same wave, not to mention The Carrollton Heist from 2016 2 years before. Somewhere by like 2014-2015 alchemist production already took a turn from his older sound towards the one we know today. And Earl is literally a protege of alchemist lol a lot of his sampling is probably inspired by him
idk what y’all expected from voir dire but it’s exactly what I wanted
I mostly agree, i think its a really great album, but there are some lackluster beats holding it back from being the undeniable classic that an earl/alc album should be
bro has producing for nearly 30 years and niggas just forget that due to 2 years f*** out of here
the way we do our older statemen and expect them to be as fresh as the day stepped off the porch 20+ years later is f***ing wild in this genre
@Laced this is literally 11 years ago, and you say alchemist is 10 years late to this drumless s***? You’re buggin. No one was really making beats like this at that time either. Alc been had this sound you slept. This was pioneering the SRS type s*** that would end up growing such a lane.
@Laced another one from 2012

No. SRS was simply an example. That sound rose with the use of the SP404 in the LA beat scene as early as 2005. Madlib is probably the godfather of it honestly. He was using the sp303 in the 90s and mainly using loops with minimal drums. Knxwledge is also someone who I would call a pioneer

Madlib the real inventor obviously but Alc with the rap camp movement and the rush of collab projects in the late 10s early 20s has made him an essential figure in that sound too.
He arguably spread the sound more than Madlib did and has turned it into more of a specific vibe than just minimalist beats/loops. He made it into this more hazy smoky thing
If we’re just arguing about the semantics of the word pioneer and the fact that it is not the same as inventor then whatever lol but Alchemist was doing this as early as Knx
it isn’t a hate boner at all, it’s actually quite the opposite
y’all call every single Alc collab album a classic
or maybe some ppl like alchemist and some ppl dont
or maybe some ppl like alchemist and some ppl dont
you spend all day on this site, so you know for a fact Alchemist is overrated on here
keep your bullshit centrist pluralism on Reddit

!https://youtu.be/7aUZtDaxS60?si=gokXTCVecZNBr42fI feel like metro didn’t even do majority of production on this lol
even that track he gave to Danny f***ing sucked, and that was one of the only manic Danny cuts on the new album
tired of that nigga, them Griselda boys are running laps around him
Anytime there's a 'real convo' about Al's recent releases barely anyone brings up Haram, despite the production on their being fantastically inventive. He's more than capable of it. And beyond that most people never even bothered to listen to Haram.
But clearly a lot of artists aren't going to him for those kind of beats. Earl just wanted some beautiful loops to bar out on, can't complain with that considering how much experimenting he's done. Album was still excellent. Boldy, Currensy, Larry June all ain't really challenging themselves much production-wise, which is fine, they have a niche and they're great at that. Al just tailors to that.
Again, as soon as the album with Crown Nation drops the majority of you are going to pay it no attention and then be complaining that his production is stale.
Not even really replying but i really wish he'd lean into s*** like haram more tbh sound is so special
I feel like this convo happens whenever a obscure talent ppl enjoyed for years becomes prevalent
Alchemist doing the same s*** Alchemist been doing all these years
For ~25 years lmao

liter f***ing rally
If you were in vultures thread the other day you’d have been told he’s better than Kanye all time
That’s not even what I was saying
We ain’t doing this again lmao
nigga that Voir Dire album was okay
the Roc Marci album was mid pack
the collab with Domo Genesis was mid pack
and yet if you peek into the threads for these albums, we have niggas like yourself acting like they’re masterpieces
There’s no way you saying No Idols is mid
Man you gotta go give that another listen
