OP there's still to delete this before @KingOfPop sees the thread
Michael Jackson might have been the most universally known human being to ever exist
I think there are more known people but Aight.
comparing MJ to Pop Smoke is blasphemous though
MJ stayed at the top for decades, Pop was just starting. Could argue the same for Pac, his music career didn’t last much.
Not only that, MJ had multiple platinum/diamonds plaques before he died.
Nah he was big like real big i was in London that summer he was supposed to do that tour he was BIG
If anything, it's the opposite.
MJ in the 80's/early 90's, was probably the most famous human being alive and he was a huge supernova who had different songs that appealed to wide audiences.
Post death, he's still extremely famous and his songs are known but the allegations somewhat hurt his mystique and untouchable image that he used to have.
MJ was the biggest artist ever
I think his popularity kinda stagnated after death and I think somewhat declined when the Neverland doc came out.

He saw it @KingOfPop getting that calm but deadly ether ready
you know for being a Stan he's actually pretty mild mannered. very surprising
Thanks I think lol. People can have opinions about the music - fine, not everyone will like it. That’s understandable.
I just draw the line with false allegations & general untruths.
Hell no. He just died after his worst moment.
..selling out a 50 concert residency (1 million tickets) in record timing?
How bad!
lmao this thread is just one step away from ‘was MJ overrated’ or ‘(new artist) > MJ’
probably going to be the common thing to say in a few years
lol that's not it at all. MJ is one of the greatest artists of all time, probably the greatest. I'm just surprised that in death, he got the biggest record deal of his career. but I guess death always makes someone's work more valuable

yeah I am conflating finances & record deal size with actual fame, that's fair

ok MJ was not bigger in death. every artists's work just becomes more valuable in death, especially if they die unexpectedly, and that's why MJ's biggest record deal came after he died. RIP to the goat
Yes, just like every relevant artist that ever died, Michael Jackson became bigger after death. It's just an inevitable consequence of dying when you're popular.
I feel like people are just denying an obvious truth because they feel like you're implying that he's only so popular because he died. What do you expect from low IQ people.
Furthermore, MJ might've been one of the most well known artists of all time but Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Eagles were also massive and arguably bigger than him.
This is just false

He was definitely bigger while he was alive. Especially during the Thriller era. No one alive right now even touches the level he was at so it can be hard to comprehend.
I would definitely say he is not as big since he died
Even if you’re in your late teens/early 20s, you know that Michael Jackson was the biggest arrest of all time summer of 09 you could NOT escape MJs music
MJ was the biggest artist ever

Also it don’t seem like it. This usually applies to artists who were on the rise and hadn’t peaked yet before they died. That wasn’t the case with MJ
What was the original title?
I think "more successful" instead of "bigger"
