I'm 22 and from the UK, completing my undergrad this year
i love the architecture and feel of the city that ive seen. and also i'm quite fond of a colder climate
how is it for employment, culture, things to do? I know moving will be a pain on the admin level, but i'd love to
We wouldnt know but since you're from "Europe" its close to home culturally & architecturally
personally i loved the city it’s like visiting Europe in north america, french isn’t necessary but u will be hugely limited if u want to visit other parts of Quebec.
they have the best strip clubs in all of Canada, like u mentioned before the architecture is great feels really gothic. homeless people are unfortunately a problem when i went to visit i saw a homeless man getting head in the middle of a snowstorm idk how he got hard in the first place but every major city in canada does as well.
Personally i like the city more than Toronto maybe cause i’m a hipster idk how the housing market is and shot but it’s prob way better than Toronto. Also when i was driving there i did notice some crumbling infrastructure.
also they racist as f*** i heard but i’m pretty sure u white so u should be good
@pumadon @Montreal

i'm from birmingham in england, known for an awful homelessness problem, so it's a shame but what im used to
it sounds really interesting

i mean that's still a turn off still
it's like any other place. housing is affordable tho steadily increasing in recent years

Literally anywhere > Birmingham
It's the least expensive of Canada's big cities and the public transit is decent/a bit above average. They real racists there from what I've heard though. Also the city does nothing to help their homeless, like most places.
Honestly one of the dopest cities I’ve ever been to. You definitely need to learn some French especially if you go further up to Quebec
Montreal not that racist lol, go outside of the city in the rest of Quebec and you might get some weird interactions if u not white or dont speak french
Great night life, great food, public transit is aight, prostitution is legal like amsterdam, extremely cheap cost of living, etc. The city is a lil dirty here and there but it's really the best place on earth if u a young dude

Severely limited if you don't speak basic french or don't have enough contacts to get around employment laws.

What are employment laws like?

For one, it's required to speak french to work in Quebec.
But in computer science related jobs, you can usually get by.
If you’re coming from europe then its chill since French Canadians are a******s & want to be euros anyways. Otherwise go to Toronto, alternatively Vancouver if you like the outdoors. They’re expensive though.

That's absolutely insane if its a centrally set law rather than just a custom among businesses
In Montreal, you’ll be “relatively” fine if you just speak English. But finding work will be stupid hard if you’re not bilingual.
Toronto’s the place to be if you’re looking to make money. Sure, things are more expensive, but generally each industry has PLENTY of jobs to go around.
