I love Lil Nas X for confronting homophobes head-on when most gay artists still pander to hets and make gender neutral love songs. I hope he never stops trolling them

On one side ‘all publicity is good publicity’ on the other side its empty and soulless and might turn people off

I read an article where that Snoop Dogg fireplace commercial bombed and got the CEO fired 😂

Yeah because who tf needs a high-end smokeless fireplace?

damn this is so interesting lol i wish i saw this before i finished the video (i exported sunday night)

Dude was spending all week on twitter clapping back at people criticizing his rollout, only for the song to be very lackluster and now he gotta admit that maybe this wasn't it.

Thing is if you've been paying attention, you'll notice that he's been throwing darts at the board this whole year.

It's a sign that the artist knows that his music can't speak for itself. Doing it once in a while can be fine but if you do it constantly like that talentless hack Lil Nas X does then it gets tiring and just annoying

    what’s kayfabe twin

It's a wrestling term, basically method acting. Whereas "breaking" kayfabe is the wrestler acknowledging the fourth wall.

  • It can be effective. It's just when it is so extremely lazy and low effort that it genuinely ends up hurting an artist more than anything. Especially when what is being marketed is complete dogshit. Lil Nas X being the most obvious example of this. Dude's music is f***ing terrible and the "piss off religious people!" gimmick is so played out and low effort that I don't even wanna "hate listen" to his music. I just ignore it. And block him on most social media/streaming platforms.

  • Gimmicks and outrage marketing are proof of a dying monoculture. If the only way you can get attention to your work is through controversy then maybe its time to check over your work's quality.

  • It still works cause song wouldve done even worse without it 🤣

  • Not here rn

he's a gimmick artist who makes terrible music

did very well to extend his run after old town road but he has been found out now

A lot of youtubers, bloggers, and music reviewers use this strategy cause it works to draw people in.

But for music people might liste/watch once but they have to like the song to keep playing it.
