Haven’t watched The Shining since I was young but all I know is it did not hit
Need to rewatch tho
2001 is in its own tier
Then I have Barry Lyndon and The Shining as personal masterpieces, I could think about these films forever.
Strangelove, ACO, FMJ and EWS are all great too of course, first two in particular. Eyes Wide Shut I feel like could have been better, but that's part of the appeal lead up to and aftermath of Zieglers party still immaculate though
Haven't seen the rest aside PoG which I was too young for, need to revisit
Yeah Barry Lyndon is just CRAZY Plot wise , the Visuals are just out of this world

The shining is incredible rewatch it when you have time and focused.
Make sure its in a really good quality
I dont think he's the goat but he's still a legend. 2001 and Eyes Wide Shut are my favs i think. Barry Lyndon might end up being my fav one day but i've only seen it once
Who is the goat then?

I just picked up doctor sleep so I’ll be getting the shining on blu ray as well then watching both
Kubrick is sort of like Kanye I can't rate him.
But if I had to, right now..
1. 2001
2. Dr. Strangelove
3. Barry Lyndon
4. A Clockwork Orange
5. Eyes Wide Shut
6. The Killing
7. Paths of Glory
8. The Shining
9. Full Metal Jacket
10. Lolita
11. Killer's Kiss
12. Spartacus
Still never seen his very first movie that was recently unearthed. He disowned it so so do I
For the record I don't think he's the GOAT but he might be mine.

Good list FMJ kinda low
Kurosawa
Kubrick Gave us the best Sci Fi movie of all time (is it even Sci Fi at this point?) Look how Ahead of his time he was.
Gave us a Horror Cult Movie
Political movies
Historical Movies
On and on Kurosawa is great but he is mostly known for his Samurai Medieval Masterpieces
Spielberg imo, all things considered.
Come on Spielberg? Why explain please I just dont see it .
Imagine what Kubrick would have done with the AI script in the 21st century
People always point out his classics but conveniently forget he made absolute trash too.

AI is a masterpiece.
Jaws, ET, Schindler’s List, Saving Private Ryan, Indiana Jones, Close Encounters, Munich, Minority Report, War of the Worlds, Jurassic Park, Catch Me If You Can.
That’s just scratching the surface. No one else is touching him for variety, longevity, and he’s as artistic as anyone else in the medium while being the most popular and profitable (maybe this is up for debate at this point idk the stats) director of all time.
His films are always pushing the medium forward, he brings out the best in actors, and he’s a master visual storyteller.
