I don’t have an actual problem with marriage

It’s just the fact that the divorce rates are getting dumb high and the fallout is massive. Religion and even gender roles in relationships are going down the drain so it just raises the question if there’s any point of the whole contractual marriage

The average marriage length before divorce is like 8 years. I mean thats not bad.

for all intents and purposes it isn't that bad of a proposition, except all the alimony stuff

people grow/change too so there's that, so as long as the full 8 years isn't pure misery and you guys end on good terms at least

any marriage can end in a messy divorce

Still better to try to be married and raise kids then just have unmarried and uncommitted people with children.

Yea thats the only thing they need to have payout caps for alimony and it shouldn't even be a thing unless one spouse didn't work because you had kids.

is it better for the kids to grow up with the trauma of having their once happy family broken apart though?

I feel like both marriage and having/raising a child goes both hand in hand so you gotta think about if you want to have a child and raise one

  • Jun 3, 2023

Corny to say but man if you find the love of your life why not? Most couples are young and pretty broke so why not? I think it comes down to whether you honestly love the person or not, financials comes after that

    Unmarried doesn’t mean uncommitted

if your partner really loves you they won't pressure you into making a major decision that you don't want to make just to feed their own ego and publicly display the relationship

people cheat on their spouse every day and it's been like this for ever

Marriage is more of a financial contract than an expression of love

Depends on your view of marriage then.

I mean it goes both ways. Both parties should want to get married. It also depends on how you view marriage.

It’s outdated. We live in a godless, hedonistic society where jumping from partner to the partner and “finding yourself” at 50 is the norm. Life long commitments are for boomers

Wouldn’t it make more sense for you of all people to believe the opposite of this? Or are you lashing out in this post

Divorce rates only rising, you lose half your assets and your kids (men). Hard to date again as a 40 year old who’s lost half his wealth lol prolly balding too.

The divorce rates 92% in Portugal

    And 86% in Spain

I do believe in love but love always turns into business in this world.

So all in all, what’s the point? This ain’t even mentioning the cost of the engagement ring and wedding

damn 92% in portugal that is crazy just be with someone you like/love weddings are overrated an expensive too
