People just extending on previous sounds little by little while the game slows down to a crawl pace
There’s multiple scenes that are diverse from each other but they are all things that have been done for years minus these rage beats which are basically the only new sound to pop up this decade in rap
Tbh, I wasn't even thinking about innovation but that's a good point. I was more so talking in terms of skill and being able to make cohesive albums with staying power.
But yeah...we can use some innovation in the mainstream too for sure.
I more so wish we had more of a balance of decent spitters and good album artists along with the other types of rappers in the mainstream. The diversity in the mainstream compared to the last decade is very minimal.
