"Legends Never Die was my favorite project in recent years"
or in dramatic ktt poster fashion:
"rap has declined since Legends Never Die"
More or less
i miss stuff like Take Care and GKMC and Rodeo but there’s just as much good new stuff. It’s just different
older artists are still putting out good music
Kanye
Drake
Nas
Cole
Tyler
Isaiah
Cudi

It's not as good though is it.
Radio/billboard s*** has not really HIT since like early 2014 imo
*me when i dont listen to rap
2018 exists
2018 was terrible outside of baby gunna Travis and Carti
not bad quality just boring nothing really happening and all my goats peaked and im ok with that
Anything is better than the SoundCloud era
unironically the best thing to ever happen to rap bro
That fact he gotta look hard proves his point tbh
OP def ain’t looking hard enough if his staples are Durk and future
Rap has declined since Legends Never Die came out, was peak content and hasn't been topped.
Honestly you can’t complain that culture hasn’t stood still to placate your own tastes that haven’t evolved in nearly a decade
That’s just on you. Isn’t this just as dumb of an argument as rap fans from the 90’s complaining about the 2010’s?
This era is not nearly as bad as that weird 2018-2019 era when the industry was trying to recreate the soundcloud era with juice wrld and lil peep clones

Yup. And probably even dumber today now that it's so much easier to find a niche of music u enjoy compared to actually having to dig in the blog days
the underground is in a good spot
mainstream rap is probably in the worst spot its ever been. there's nobody thats satisfying all the rap fans the way drake, k dot, cole, ye, wayne, hov, etc. did. i dont think its ever been this long

Cudi
Kanye: hit or miss right now, unfinished songs and music that lacks direction makes his music take a hit
Drake: past his prime, struggling to capture the spark again
Nas: great vet comeback story
Cole: (I've never been a Cole fan so ima reserve my opinion)
Tyler: arguably one of the most exciting acts out, getting better with every project, but a lot of people are gonna struggle to give him a chance because of his past and his fan base
Isaiah: idk why more people don't fw Isaiah, didn't strike while the iron was hot, lost a decent amount of hype, and his last project didn't seem to re-captivate people
Cudi: as much as I love Cudi, man's an icon, he has very big "hello, fellow kids" vibes when he's kinda past his prime, but he can still punch in a solid verse and make a solid song here and there
KENNY: everyone knows exactly what's coming
There are a lot of younger acts doing something unique that I think get unfair hate/don't get their proper dues, but I definitely think the McDonald's music that's been coming out (due to the streaming/influencer era) definitely outweighs pure craft. Was listening to some 3k last night and it's insane how such a small % of artists could even hold a candle to 3 stacks at his very worst, let alone prime Outkast, as far as artistry. Then again, pandemic era probably really responsible for a lot of it.
