Hasn't America always used buzzwords to communicate tho?
Or else conversation isn't interesting enough
Yeah I think we are all very competent but not exactly intelligent. It takes deeper a***ysis to really level up and I think most people just go with their hearts/gut. I could be talking out of my ass too, though
What makes you say that?
the youth is toast
growing up with instant gratification and dopamine, mixed with the pandemic = toast
Many of them are scientists, lawyers, doctors etc
Let's not str8 up lie
The Boomers are more worried about their property value than anything happening in society being a doctor/lawyer dont mean there all that smart
blog.prepscholar.com/average-sat-scores-over-time
If you look at these charts of SAT scores, I’d say test scores are pretty much the same until last year for some reason.
There are some shifts but they seem to correspond to changes in the SAT.
If I had to guess what happened last year..unfortunately my guess would be that kids are using ChatGPT for all their homework and aren’t retaining anything :(

Instant gratification and dopamine are myths… they ARE toast in the sense that they’re so easy to influence. With dead internet theory and the state of psyops all over socials, they’re cursed with consuming it from birth
What leads you to believe that? Considering how Covid set back education along with social media hive mind still plaguing the nation idk
Looks bleak to me
I'm confused as to why ppl don't trust the youth (Gen Z/Alpha) to put their best foot forward
They've done nothing to warrant scrutiny lol, boomers were dumb asl too.
the s*** I read on r/teachers doesnt give me a lot of hope
feels like the public education system has been effectively sabotaged (speakin on the US) for so many years that kids these days are not getting a proper education. like actual literacy, high schoolers who can't read a regular book, who can't do basic arithmetic. and its not coz they're like bad people, the system just failing in abundance rn.
at least thats how i see it. my pov doesn't really mean s*** so w/e

Probably because SAT/ACT became optional for colleges recently

Why would the US be downgrading in education?
How is that even possible?
TikTok gives ppl so much info at their fingertips
It’s no surprise certain ideologies are pushing to get rid of standardized testing, gpa requirements, SAT, etc
It’s damage control because most kids are falling further and further behind
Probably because SAT/ACT became optional for colleges recently
That happened mostly during the pandemic, and those scores didn’t seem to change much.

So we were on an upwards trend before COVID?

A lot of young migrants enrolling in school lately ? those are some hard ass score drops off of 1 year
5600 new students for a few districts in one city for would have to affect the school scores
chalkbeat.org/colorado/2024/03/22/some-colorado-migrant-students-can-skip-standardized-tests
As of February, the Denver, Aurora, Cherry Creek, Greeley, Adams 12, Jeffco, and Mapleton districts told Chalkbeat they had enrolled more than 5,600 newcomer students after October count
Standardized testing and GPA provides a barometer for critical thinking, literacy, and maturity?
It’s no surprise certain ideologies are pushing to get rid of standardized testing, gpa requirements, SAT, etc

U think so?
Tests and GPA are dumb anyways, they're both rigged asffff
I think it’s the complete opposite @op
Theirs a complete crisis with reading and literacy amongst kids and adults in the US
And In terms of maturity, let’s just say most people in the US lack critical thinking skills to see beyond their worldview let alone think about complex ideas

You can have some of the greatest education possible in the world in the US you just need MONEY. The extremely wealthy are heavily insulated from what America is like for actual Americans. Public school has been, in my belief, purposefully sabotaged by the government to create a population that is more easily swayed by its own propaganda.
People are more reactionary than ever, its never been more about looks and aesthetic and image than ever before. Deep pockets and shallow minds in abundance.
Identity politics have been intentionally weaponized by the government and the ultra wealthy to distract the population from coming together and creating and meaningful change. When your population has lower levels of critical thinking, media literacy, and things like that, they will be easier to distract, divert, and outright control.
You ask me why the US would be doing this and I ask you why the US would be doing anything else.
So we were on an upwards trend before COVID?
Unfortunately no. I think it was still downward and Covid just made it even worse
Especially if we compare to other developed nations. Our K-12 education is pretty barebones and trash.
We have the best universities but we aren’t properly preparing kids to be ready for them.

America has the best universities?
Public university education is drastically different from high school education?
So ur saying we just gotta get rich then 😭
Rich as a motherfucker, born with millions type. It's over for us just enjoy the ride.
