better way to put it, the kids probably weren’t raising their hands and responding, so he assumed none of them know. which i will admit participating in the classroom is an issue, however everyone participates differently.
have you ever met a kid under the age of 10 it’s so iver
Either or. We have the Ivys yes but we also have dozens and dozens of great universities, public and private, that are very good.
hard agree. we dont need to look at ivys at all imo

its worth noting a lot of teachers dont really know how to get responses effectively to begin with

I don’t think maturity is improved at all. I’ve dealt with far too many mental childs in their 20s and 30s. But I can’t speak to how things were in the past either
Nobody who graduates from the American school system should consider themselves well-educated or articulate lol
•Foreigners are more fluent in your language than you
•Zero attention span
•Limited concept of nuance, at best
•Profoundly struggle to communicate like an adult
•Incapable of originality; can only parrot/mimic
•Incapable of receiving criticism
Not really a debate thread
Just a friendly reminder that the bar is on the floor
Midwits run the internet. They’re really good at masquerading as someone intelligent, but it’s total bs. Genuinely stupid people are increasing in numbers thanks to the public education system and s*** parenting. Overall It's not looking good
Why would we be motivated to be willfully ignorant?
Because being faced with difficult, inconvenient new concepts is painful
It's called cognitive dissonance and people hate it
Yeah thanks to tik tok
I'm confused as to why ppl don't trust the youth (Gen Z/Alpha) to put their best foot forward
They've done nothing to warrant scrutiny lol, boomers were dumb asl too.
I've noticed the overall quality and competency of people as employees is much lower, which leads me to believe you're wrong.
Fast food is worse now, customer service as a whole has nearly gone out the window, handymen/construction folk are bigger half assers than ever.
Idk if I'm being cynical but I stg I've noticed a decline in the overall skill of average people lol.

Ppl r fed up after COVID... they have the RIGHT to be less skillful.
Likeee... who wouldn't be bored and rude working those jobs

There's never been a generation more likely to be raised as an ipad kid glued to YouTube and TikTok early on. You strike me as a bright young dude so I don't mean to generalize but you may be an exception
Replied to this comment in particular because here I think you nailed another root where this dispute came from. People not trusting Gen Z / Alpha, not just anti-US sentiment
I'm probably more patriotic for the US than most here. But I read ellie's critique on Americans in college, I attended a US college in the last few years and I got the point being made. More herd mentality in universities today than there was in public school. Plus reports of declining reading levels
This sxn would've been on that other thread's d*** if it was anti-American education, but attacking from a commie perspective (not saying you're on that timing OP)

@ellielliellie thoughts?

Woke up and thread was locked, I don’t really mind the hateful comments
Would rather see it open for discussion tbh :/

The quality of education can vary depending on where you live, with some cities or areas having better public schools than others.
Unfortunately, not everyone has access to the same level of education due to factors out of their control.
Those who can afford it have an opportunity to attend private schools, which often offer more opportunities and resources than public schools. So this means that not everyone has the same chance to learn and succeed, and this is a problem beyond Americans, which isn’t fair.
