People in general were not f***ing with the album, except young people that was first exposed to Jay on bp3 or just big kanye/cudi fans, mostly.

The sound & structure is all over the place its crazy.

Like the New York Alcia song doesnt fit the more "future" sound on there either, even tho its one of the better songs.

And the mixing as I said is a mess too, so many ups n downs n buried s*** including vocals. And jay sounds forced on a lot of it.

Its the same issue I have with KC, but at least KC is more sonically consistent.

As I said, thank God for AG, WTT & 444. Idk how it is in NY, but in general people forget Jay was looking a lil iffy there for a bit until WTT. And from what Ive seen even further in hiphop media, they also dont look back fondly on BP3, KC n MCHG when i used to be all over that s*** in the early to late 2010s like DJ Vlad, Hot 97, Breakfast Club, Sway, Big Boy, LA Leakers, Hardknock TV, Combat Jack, Ghost LTD, Bootleg Kev etc. etc.

Weird period but he was always able to swing back. KC to AG, then BP3 to WTT, then MGHG to 444.

One dud then one banger back to back for a min there, then 444 fully cemented him again to where hes seen as ever untouchable, once again.

The layering, volume n legit sound rendered quality is constantly crazy all over the place on both those albums n not in a good way 💀

And people can say what they want about MCHG (which is usually lumped in as the bottom 3 along with KC n BP3), but at least its sound, mixing & Rapping is consisent & together unlike KC & BP3 lmao.

MCHG was amazing too I strongly prefer it to 4:44 too

it’s his best produced album outside of WTT. no other solo jay z album has more kanye beats. his lyrics were lacking though.

Never got this critique when he never really even super leaned into doing music like that. Especially the way he could have at that time looking at niggas like Ross/2 Chainz and now Gibbs and Benny

I f***in love BP3 with my whole damn heart. Probably my favorite Hov album by far

But maybe I’m biased because BP3 was the first Jay-Z era I got to witness as it was happening and as a full blown fan so that might be why I have a soft spot for it

the already home and thank you beats aged better than any beat on BP1. blueprint 1 is better though.
