I don't think the movie stands on the strength of just being a good movie Would not have nearly the same impact if it was made during Obama's presidency. And Idk how to feel about footage of those protests being put at the end of the movie

I remember watching this movie and feeling like it was trying to say something but having no idea what that something was I thought it might have been anti-capitalism or something about black people who don't fit the stereotypical black archetypes but then the horse s*** happened and I was just so confused

Promising Young Woman, but it might be the whole heterosexual male hate going on. I enjoyed the movie though.

I definitely did feel this extremely desperate bid throughout the film for Spike Lee to make this "real story" so important and huge. But the reality is that the movie is a complete and utter fabrication of what actually happened, which attempts to glorify Ron Stallworth, a guy who spent way more time sabotaging the Black Panthers than actually doing damage to any white supremacists. Also in real life that cop who gets "fired" never actually did. Spike just made up a bunch of s*** to try to make Stallworth look like he fought the good fight, when he was just another pig and the real life story's connection to Trump is genuinely insulting.

Quite frankly, this is one of the most offensively bad films ever made.

What do you think of inside man and malcolm x? I haven't seen black klansman yet but i think his work with denzel is stellar (so far, i haven't seen his other jointsyet. I still gotta watch Do The Right Thing)

Adam McKay kinda f***ed this one up by making it a biopic of Cheney so when bad s*** happens to him it invites us to sympathise to him

I enjoyed those 2 a lot more though I also felt Malcolm x was very preachy and inside man just felt like it meandered a lot

My fav spike x Denzel stuff so far been Mo Better Blues and He Got Game, but yeah I still have to see a number of Spikes classics like Crooklyn and Do The Right Thing

All fax here. I enjoyed my first watch of it in theaters but the more I think about the movie the more it crumbles
