    Tomorrow

Cordova is already the next Drake.

  • Seems like he has charisma but idk I dont really see people hyping his music like that

Could def be an actor or a successful podcast host

  • i like jack's style, but he hasnt created a universe the way drake has. or he's at least yet to create it

Tbh he could, he makes basic relatable music. His image is not Eminem-ish where black audiences are turned off by him but also not to Paul Wall-ish where he’s too “urban” for the average white person too like.

The problem is that he needs to stand out a little more, he sounds too much like Drake clone rn.

    It’s a different world
    Everything is fragmented.
Radio basically controlled the country back then. Now people listen to either their own playlists or playlists curated by the streaming services

Point being if you want to live in your own bubble you can

Jack is streaming more than Ye rn on Spotify so it doesn’t matter if you yourself heard him. He’s being heard by a lot of people

1 more thing… the streets will always be the best indicator if you REALLY that dude or not

''The entire industry was handed to him on a platter, basically''. What a way to s*** on Drake's talent and skill set. So Wayne is why Drake has ran the game for the last 12 years, right? F*** outta here.

You were the one that brought up what Drake did at Jack current age, not me. So I brought up the context of enabled drake to do what he did at that age; which 100% was lil Wayne

You are changing the goal post now bringing up drake entire career instead of sticking to the age you were talking about originally

Obviously drake took the baton and ran off far with it, but don’t act like it wasn’t handed to him in a way that started him off in a great position that no rapper since him has had. Wayne was the hottest rapper around that 08-11 era and Wayne gave drake hella hella hella features as well as putting drake on his own projects/songs.

Drake has been the hottest rapper since 2012 but has yet to do that same service for any other 1 specific rapper

I’m theorizing that he might do that for Jack
Yes Jack is heavily influenced by drake but drake was by Wayne as well

I don’t feel like the instances you name show a line between gimmick or branding at all man

Branding is also with the intention of generating interest or attention. Lil Yachty with red hair is not branding but a gimmick? But when Jack does a reoccuring thing you call it branding?

I get that youre a fan of his, thats cool, i wasn’t even implying a gimmick is supposed to be a negative thing either

They pretty much the same thing the way you just explained it

No, lil yachty when he First Came Out with that hair; it was a gimmick. Now he integrated as a part of his branding, sure, but can you tell me rn why yachty has red hair? Why is it red instead of blue? Like, the hair has nothing to do with who he is as a person or what he believes or what he stands for
He already admitted in an interview he literally just did it for attention
That is a gimmick. Or at least, it was

Maybe it’s a bad example bc it’s become a part of his branding now but yes there is a difference

    Branding is meaningful
    Gimmicks are shallow/empty

1 thing can be a gimmick for someone, but branding for someone else just bc of the meaning they give to it

  • Nov 17, 2021

not an x fan but he would've been the closest

  • Nov 17, 2021

i remember saying this about nav when he first came out idk why i said that

Gotta hear what Mr Harlows Doing It Wrong is before I say that

What does Jack Harlow acting sus or being flirty have anything to do with what he stands for though? lmao

How is it any different from what Yachty or anybody else does? It's never that deep with most of these artists. They all just want attention/buzz at the end of the day

Man, stop. Stop acting like the Wayne features are what blew Drake up. Drake's first legit hit was Best I Ever Had (a solo song) and then Successful (which featured Trey Songz). The association definitely helped but Drake's music had it's own momentum and even Wayne will tell you that. You could see it as early as 2011. Carter 4 sold more first week than Take Care but Take Care had more momentum after that first week and 10 years later, it's still carrying on. Jack simply doesn't have the momentum Drake had back then. Jack doesn't even have the hype and momentum of So Far Gone Drake and it has nothing to do with him not having a rapper like Wayne by his side. He needed to feature like 4 other rappers to get Whats Poppin in the top 10. That was his first hit. His second is as a featured artist on a Lil Nas X song. Every song he dropped in between both songs didn't take off. His album didn't do s***. Comparing him with Drake makes 0 sense.

Drake was 22 dropping classic projects like So Far Gone. By Take Care, at the age of 25, he had 2 legitimate classics under his belt with a LONG LIST of timeless songs. Songs that people still talk about till this day. Jack knows nothing about that. He's a cool artist but that's it. I could see him becoming a better rapper but he'll never reach the heights that Drake has.

  • Nov 17, 2021

yall forget drake had multiple hits out the gate. jack only got like 2 hits

    Exactly lol
Drake came on the scene with hit records. Best I ever had peaked at #2 and was inescapable in a time where pop was running the charts

To be the next Drake, you have to have global success from the start.

    Don’t see that with Harlow

This is stupid. Drake was already well-connected with multiple people in the industry because of the way he networked on myspace and there was a label bidding war for him. He was gonna go with or without wayne because he was able to make good ass songs. Wayne def helped but dont act like everyone with a wayne co-sign made or makes it

    What’s Poppin peaked at #2
Industry Baby peaked at #1 (1.5 years later)
    Tyler Herro peaked at #34

I’m not sure what other rappers, who’s debut album is from 2020 or later, that have those feats . Or that are his age (23)

It’s not just about a Wayne co sign

But the fact Wayne was the hottest rapper in the world at the time, his own fanbase wanted to hear Wayne music so they had to listen to a drake song to hear Wayne’s part
    It’s more than just a co-sign

There’s no way Drake is on Forever, with Eminem, Lil Wayne, and Kanye West in 2009 without Wayne being so heavily involved in his career
He’s on a song with legends, before he ever sold 1 album, ep or mixtape

Just look at the feature list from SFG compared to TML
A lot of those big name Industry connects came after Wayne already had like 7 songs released with Drake, lord knows how many were recorded

That’s damn near an EP worth of music together and I don’t think Wayne gave any other 1 artist as many features as he’s given Drake. In his career at all. And Wayne did that for drake at the height of his own career

Well, Post Malone I wouldn’t consider a rapper. But as an artist, he is almost on drake’s level through his first 3 projects compared to drake first 3 albums
