Mods don’t even think about moving, this is directly tied in with Kanye.

    ——————-

I was watching an interview with stand up comedian Bill Burr about his role in the show Breaking Bad. When he was praised by the audience for his performance (especially for having no previous acting credits), he humbly explained that you could literally put ANYONE in a show with that perfect of a script and it would make them look good. The show itself was so good that it made inexperienced actors look like geniuses.

I question whether or not Jay Z would be half the rap legend he is today if it weren’t for Kanye’s beats. Similar to Burr, you could put the s***tiest rapper on something so perfect (a Kanye beat for example) and it would make him look like a king.

Conversely, put any Jay Z verse on, say, a very basic, flat, underground hip hop beat and it just wouldn’t hit the same.

What do you guys think? We all know Kanye carried Jay Z through the latter part of his career, but exactly how much? What would Jay’s rap career looked like if Kanye never existed?

Hov is underrated. I would agree that some of his discog is mid and his stans can be a bit delusional about it but he managed to come up with another classic or at least good album every other release to make up for the mid in between and people easily forget that most of the rappers they stan have been short-lived and not half as longlasting as Hov. There is no other rapper on the planet with a time-span of 21 years between two great albums (RD and 4:44).

As a rapper, he's got everything. He's got flows, lyrics, great ear for beats, one of the most unique voices in the game, what else do you want?

"you could put the s***tiest rapper on something so perfect (a Kanye beat for example) and it would make him look like a king."

so then why does Kanye sound so s*** on Ye and JIK - albums full of his own production?

Only rapper to have a classic album in 3 separate decades: ‘90s, ‘00s, and ‘10s. This is HOV

Was speaking of peak Kanye. The Kanye that made Jay Z’s beats. Pay attention.

Jay got talent and is high key a lyrical goat. But let's be real fam lyrics ain't what they used to be and Jay wouldn't have made it to 2020 with out riding Kanyes MBDTF wave and Beyonce the whole decade.

Idk if this applies to Jay cuz he has always had great beats. Nas however is like an amazing Actor stuck doing s***ty Movies. Nas beats and album concepts can be weak as f*** but his rapping was always on point...rapping doesn't change the production value of an album. Thats why beats and delivery are more important than just bars.

Reasonable doubt, generally considered his best, has 0 beats from Kanye. The Black Album has only one from Kanye and yet album is a classic. Surprised to see such a bad argument from you OP
