Imagine being this basic everyone.
m02sp listened to one bon iver album and became a music connoisseur
i’m sorry my opinion (that prolly 50-60% of people will agree with) is too basic for your exquisite taste!

The apology actually sounded good. Good girl.
Terrible opinion OP. Jay is a self made man, how could he be overrated? Guy had A biggy feature on his first album

None of those things have anything to do with his skill as an MC.
How are you guys not understanding what I’m saying 3 pages in?
Jay Z is known for his singles and maybe one or two albums
its very rare to have a jay z album that's listenable all the way through.
4:44 could have been his 2nd best album
he should have gone off the frequency and vibe of Bam and story of OJ
its always a swing and a miss from Jay Z

Reasonable Doubt is a classic, and Kanye wasn’t there yet. Ye may be saved his career with BP1, but so Just Blaze and Timbo.
Let's compare for example Just Blaze beats. PSA and Drake's Lord Knows :
Jay Z murdered PSA beats, it's a f***ng classic, Drake ruined Lord Knows whereas beat is a masterpiece. Give Lord Knows beats to Jay-Z and it's a classic.
I can assure you that if a rapper is bad and the beat is good, this will not make a classic, but just a good songs thanks to the beat, and vice versa.
Jay Z is a great rapper, and since BP1 he knows which producer to take to his projects. Ye never produced entierely a JayZ album (even Watch the Throne), there's always Just Blaze and Timbaland, even Pharrell not far.
So before spitting bullshit kid, learn some history about one of the greatest.
OP is wrong and will be the wrong until the end of time. Jay-Z is a MASTER MC, he MURDERS the artists he typically features on. His flows are EXPANSIVE, he has excelled in every possible way of rhyming (fast, slow doesn’t matter). He‘s one of the pioneers of multi-syllabic rhyming and he masterfully weaves in and out of beats in interesting ways. He is able to craft cohesive material WITHOUT writing down a single word. He is the definition of a TRUE MC.
So many greats flows and raps. Reservoir Dogs, Brooklyn’s Finest, Nigga What Nigga Who, D’Evils, Hard Knock Life, PSA, Smile, not to mention features he’s murdered Diamonds From Sierra Leone, Clique, Pound Cake, So Appalled, B**** Don’t Kill My Vibe, What’s Free, etc
this is the funniest thread I've seen in a minute my g.
Like it's too funny to even try to spaz on son.
Yeah I think Jay Z is pretty over rated tbh. I’m old enough to remember my mom having Jay Z cassette tapes and playing them in in car, so I’m not some young kid just being edgy.
Jay Z is a good rapper, and a better businessman. Has some dope verses / flows, but nothing especially unique.
What makes him unique is his business acumen and the way he carries himself.
I’m not saying anything to hate, I have like 2 of his songs in my top 25 songs of all time. He’s definitely a whole f***in legend, just pretty over rated when it comes to rap
