    wtf

    hot pancakes

Yeah I think Jay Z is pretty over rated tbh. I’m old enough to remember my mom having Jay Z cassette tapes and playing them in in car, so I’m not some young kid just being edgy.

Jay Z is a good rapper, and a better businessman. Has some dope verses / flows, but nothing especially unique.

What makes him unique is his business acumen and the way he carries himself.

I’m not saying anything to hate, I have like 2 of his songs in my top 25 songs of all time. He’s definitely a whole f***in legend, just pretty over rated when it comes to rap

    My thoughts exactly.

I was born in 85, little boy. I also have extensive background in hip hop. I know what I'm talking about. Now accept it.

Little boy 😂😂 admit that you have a terrible opinion, your « soit disant » extensive background is total bullshit. You sound like you know nothing about hiphop, that’s what I see.

Mods don’t even think about moving, this is directly tied in with Kanye.

    ——————-

I was watching an interview with stand up comedian Bill Burr about his role in the show Breaking Bad. When he was praised by the audience for his performance (especially for having no previous acting credits), he humbly explained that you could literally put ANYONE in a show with that perfect of a script and it would make them look good. The show itself was so good that it made inexperienced actors look like geniuses.

I question whether or not Jay Z would be half the rap legend he is today if it weren’t for Kanye’s beats. Similar to Burr, you could put the s***tiest rapper on something so perfect (a Kanye beat for example) and it would make him look like a king.

Conversely, put any Jay Z verse on, say, a very basic, flat, underground hip hop beat and it just wouldn’t hit the same.

What do you guys think? We all know Kanye carried Jay Z through the latter part of his career, but exactly how much? What would Jay’s rap career looked like if Kanye never existed?

You are a dumbass. Jay was popping before Kanye. I know personally that Kanye would slap your dumbass for saying this. Everyone in this thread in now dumber for having to hear what you had to say.

Also Ye hasn’t even produced Jays biggest hits.

    He’s a sub-par lyricist and that’s objective.

I can introduce you to MC’s who are better if you’d like?

You not understanding what I’m saying is a result of only listening to the radio your whole life. Maybe it’s time we work together to help you switch it up a bit?

you gotta be a special breed of to say that.
Jay legitimately has 4 classics (RD Bp1, Black Album, 444) and Volume 1-3 are dope, One half of Classic WTT and American Gangster is fire. Kills a bunch of guest verses

  • Nov 25, 2019

Also people in your age group/older probably say Jay is the goat so you trippin either way b

  • Nov 25, 2019

I agree that Kanye helped Jay Z a crazy amount after BP 1, but you gotta remember HOV been a legend since Vol 1 (IMO) and arguably he's been rooted in history since RD
