People won’t believe me, but whatever - Andre 3000’s favorite rapper is Future. He doesn’t like listening to what he calls “flowery” rap either - he likes stuff that doesn’t scare the hoes. 😭

The fact that people won't believe you about that is what is wrong with the landscape of hip-hop because fans won't do their research and realise Future was part of Dungeon Family

And Andre gotta play the flute cause he cant find inspiration in hip hop lol.

That’s kind of adjacent to “lyrical miracle”, lyrical miracle rappers aren’t lyrical

People conflate the two cause of Mac Lethal and Eminem and Tech N9ne and s***. Now. I don't think people were calling Do or Die and Bone Thugs and Twista lyrical miracle. That was more underground indie conscious rap s***.

Jid isnt really bone thugs or twista type though he’s more like a Kendrick/Wayne/Eminem hybrid

Hip hop becoming that moment in school ( if you went to public school yktv ) when you realized certain classmates looked at you sideways for trying to actively engage with the classroom.

“Why you try so hard nigga?”

because it literally used to not be looked at as trying hard but doing the bare minimum lmaooooooo

I don’t think “flowery rap” scares the hoes. A lot of the sminos and Tyler’s of the world have female fans.

That “flowery” rap is why niggas put his ass at the top of the food chain (where he dont deserve to even be at)

Niggas wanna be cool so much they strip down they own individual coolness to fit in.

It's not a literal phrase. Just means stuff you prototypically wouldn't play at a party or a mixed crowd - at least that's how I meant it.

Yea because women don’t like it. The term is meant to be taken literally

  • Jan 30, 2024

A “lyrical rapper” is redundant in itself when you think about it.

It’s crazy cause if you count word/vocab usage I bet all the trap rappers from the 2000s used a lot more than what these current d boys is using.

If lupe is the bar for what it means to be lyrical then only like 3 people can be considered lyrical.

rappers who only rap fast usually do it to mask their weak lyricism

Lil Xan and Young Thug are outspoken about their disdain towards boring and bad music, yet actively make that kind of music

One of these rappers is not like the other

having content, flows, multisyllables and entendres all at once is what makes you an alien level rapper (ie. black thought, lupe, andre)
