Persona wise (not necessarily musically but a lot of niggas aren’t musically far off) why the f*** does everyone wanna be Boston Richey or Veeze or whoever

Nobody wants to be perceived as someone who truly cares

And when the hip hop zeitgeist switches back to what it used to be in the 2000’s where being a hip hop head added to your appeal and prestige niggas gonna switch back lol

    Niggas are #weird

It’s because nobody online wants to come across like they are a nerd with no hoes or motion.

not even the lyrical miracle savior himself tryna hear that fast rap s***

he's capable of making more laid back s*** as well though

Forever Story and DiCaprio 2 are examples of how much range JID has

True. And I’d definitely call them “lyrical miracles”

lyrical miracle has become a derogatory term. theres different types of lyrical rappers and different levels tbh

black thought and jid are totally different type of rappers imo

having content, flows, multisyllables and entendres all at once is what makes you an alien level rapper (ie. black thought, lupe, andre)

Tough to put andre in that conversation when we don’t know what a 3 verse song sounds like from him. Dre not really a particularly strong entendre rapper either where’s his entendres?

    Blame Yatchy

Every since he proved that you don’t have to care about HipHop to make it, most of those rappers started copying that mindset

Live from "home of the brave," with dirty dollars

Ok do you have 4 more? I feel like you can count his entendres on one hand he usually is more straight forward lyrically. But then again he just doesn’t have that much material that’s why I could never put him in a conversation with someone as proven as Black Thought or Lupe

JID isn't really a "lyrical rapper". He's a Das EFX tongue twister rapper. Different things.

Because of that one example? I can’t say he’s particularly skilled at it when countless people are more accomplished at that skill. We’re talking about someone with around 50 verses in their career. And probably has attempted about 10 or 15 entendres. It’s such a small sample size and I like to be evidence based in these conversations. The evidence isn’t there

3k not really an entendre type. It's more so his unpredicatable rhyme schemes and flows and ability to convey complex feelings in simple ways

jid not really a punchline rapper like wayne tho

he does more off kilter flows and multisyllabics. similar to eminem and kendrick

    Bruh, Dicaprio 2 mostly punchlines

People won’t believe me, but whatever - Andre 3000’s favorite rapper is Future. He doesn’t like listening to what he calls “flowery” rap either - he likes stuff that doesn’t scare the hoes. 😭

he probably doesn’t find that s*** authentic cause the moment a “sound” or sub genre gets traction in the industry you start a***yzing who’s really an innovator based off some real life experience or skill

rappers who only rap fast usually do it to mask their weak lyricism

Right. If you strip back Rap God, there's nothing there content-wise.

The fact ppl equate niggas like JID as lyrical miracle rappers for the objectively task of…actually rhyming words that have more than one syllable speaks volumes about where we at in hip hop

    It's irritating

he has plenty of examples. idk why u keep bringing up him not having a catalog, he was 1/2 of outkast and they arguably have the greatest rap discog.

int'l players anthem is another example of top tier entendre rapping. really the whole verse has multiple examples in it.

I wouldn't call Kendrick a lyrical miracle rapper, at least not on his albums. He has some awkward, showy features, I'll grant that, but that's not really his thing in general. Lyrics matter to him, but that's not what lyrical miracle means.

In my mind, the term comes from a tendency to waste words and rhyme things together for the sake of it when you're not really saying anything at all. It's a rapper drawing attention to their rhymes in lieu of content.

If anything, Kendrick has been criticized for not having complex, layered bars to the extent of a Lupe or Black Thought. His s*** is actually really simple. He's more of a storyteller who adopts broader concepts and metaphors over the course of an album.

Eminem has become more of a lyrical miracle rapper over time as his content has gone to s***. He's not saying anything about anything. Classics like The Way I Am and Cleaning Out My Closet had real substance behind the rhyme schemes and flows though. He was just a great writer who cared about his craft back then.

kenny storytelling is top tier. i feel like when he raps fasts which does happen, his writing really suffers. people are wowed by the conviction, flows, delivery but some of the lyrics were really bad or filler in those fast rapping songs
