I’m saying it from an online only perspective. Nobody wants to get “ratio’d” or called a nerd or whatever because of the music they like so whenever some s*** comes up that’s not really in line with what’s cool in the culture rn they s*** on it so they don’t look like the strawman they envision that listens to that music.

It came from a filthy Frank video making fun of bad internet rappers who thought they were good at rapping. It wasn’t making fun of people like JID at all. Idk how old you are but there was a whole wave of people in the early 2010s that jumped on the Hopsin type s*** talking about “fuck Wayne and Drake, I only like/make real hip hop” that’s who Joji was making fun of

Then people started calling anyone who rhymed a bunch of nonsense lyrical miracles(Eminem, Aesop Rock, Doom) Even tho again that isn’t who the video was making fun of

And now anyone that actually even raps gets called that

There is a stigma growing of someone who cares about the art being considered desperate, weird, and uncool sadly.

Hopefully, we'll have that one artist that shakes s*** up and landscape starts to act like they give a f*** again

Cause Earl like most functioning human beings knows there’s room for everything.

The issue has never been “aw hip hop is street music/sex music etc.” because hip hop’s always had that lane since the days of early BDP.

The issue is we got no f***ing BALANCE no more. So now EVERYBODY wants to just be one thing.

This same mentality is why a lotta niggas be too scared or worried making threads about artists THEY like for fear they may get made fun of or even get ignored.

I crack on him cause I do not like the artists he be posting but @Melz at least don’t care. Ppl like @proper just post they artists they like and dont care. Whether they get 1 or 111 replies they don’t care. Post who YOU f*** with not who you think will make you look cool dawg 😭 Thats what we need more of in the MUSIC sxn, just post who u like and don’t care what somebody else thinks about it.
