Is this entire thread under 25?

Kanye produced some of Jay Z's biggest songs early on, but he basically carried him the post blueprint era musically. WTT was more important for Hov than it was for Ye who was already a global superstar musically, had universally acclaimed solo albums, more commercially successful albums and singles and at that point was thought to have one of the greatest discographies ever, not even just hip hop.

Wouldn't say he saved his career, but he definitely extended Jay well beyond his shelf life.

WTT would have materialized into another Ye album smack dab in his prime at no point past graduation did him working with Hov benefit him more than it did Jay until maybe Donda ( kinda)

ackshually it was 2 years ok i dont think that makes a big dif
idk the lore of who came up with DOA but kanye didnt produce it im p sure?
either way he had a huge album the year before with multiple massive hits and the year after blueprint he had a massive classic album with mutliple hits
they were great collaborators yes but kanye didnt SAVE his career dawg lol
empire state of mind is also significantly bigger than run htis town

When did I say he saved his career? Them collaborating benefitted Jay Z more than Ye by far post 2007. Kanye didn't need anything for Jay at that point because he was a global superstar musically. People at the time were even tired of Ye constantly forcing Jay onto them. Hell, that was relevant from Late Reg when he put the Diamonds remix on the main album and not the actual single You guys are trying to rewrite history I actively lived through on earlier versions of these message boards.

omit WTT & the 2010s is basically Hov faking platinum albums & trying to get tidal off the ground + having Kanye eat the sales of what would have been among one of his most commercially successful albums to do so

Kanye took down prime 50 Cent at his musical peak, and Jay was getting washed by a Detroit white boy at his peak. We all know who needed who more from 2005 and beyond.

Kanye could've had a lucrative deal with Apple, but decided to help Hov get another pump and dump venture off the ground. These people were not here for these things

the name of the thread is kanye saved jay z's career

post 2007 yea sure id agree, but pre 2007 no id just disagree

and still its not like he CARRIED his career its just an exxageration

in 2009 hov was featured on umbrella which went #1
empire state of mind is like the biggest song of his career
99 problems is the other biggest song of his career
holy grail was a huge song
    dirt off your shoulder
suit & tie featuring hov was huge
frontin had nothing to do with kanye
every song he had with beyonce

like hov was still huge in this era aside from what kanye produced

well yea if you omit one of his three albums of the decade, yes its not very eventful. last time i checked tho 444 was the highlight of his work that decade and kanye didnt have anything to do with it

  • This is what some of y’all niggas look like when it comes to this nigga kanye

NIP is the biggest song of Hov's career. Won Grammys and was the first song of his to go diamond. Even though Empire State of Mind had a 2 year head start.

right but empire state of mind is diamond too

hov did the hook on NIP and it was mainly produced by hit-boy.

watch the throne was huge because it was two huge artists and an iconic duo not just because it was kanye

like he was important i agree but lets not act liek he was carrying him on his back is what im saying

Tweet in OP is so f***ing stupid

Jay Z’s career was in danger because of an eminem feature on an album that sold like 500k first week

Also if we’re going off that scenario how did Kanye save him by producing on The Blueprint then? The 4 Kanye produced songs were already on the album with the eminem feature that put his career in danger, its not like they patched them in later

  • This delusional take really brought out people trying to rewrite history in favor of their favorite fascist

  • This was a OG KTT narrative back in the day lol I remember this, Jay never needed saving tho. By the time the world was introduced to Kanye Jay was cemented. He def contributed to Jay’s success ofcourse with his production. But jay stamping Kanye was his biggest co sign

  • Didn’t Ye help him write too ?

  • inspoeater

This has been a narrative for years but moreso as we go into post Grad Bp3/WTT era he refreshed Hov aesthetic and brand

Its a reach to say he did this in Blueprint era where Hov could have worked with anyone and it would have still been Jay Z after the 96-99 run with Def Jam behind him in 2001 lol. Ye did start the palette for Blueprint tho

Kanye took the ball and ran wit it during that era. Jay was still cemented by them but he helped keep Jay relevant with the “youth”. It was “lil bro’s” time to shine and he brought big bro wit em. Same thing with Common. But saying he saved Jay’s career is misleading imo

Jay literally dropped "The Black Album" the same year as GRODT lol. If anything, he did the retirement thing because he lost the Nas beef, and people dissing BP2.

    mr get dough

    WTT was following BP3

That album was a smash hit. Niggas think bc they dont like the album his career was in the gutter lol

BP3 sold 476k first week I think MBDTF did 496k they was literally on the same level thats what made the album so special

Some people put too much value in their own opinions.. and the opinions be “this is mid”

There are several sources out there that confirmed Jay being scared of 50. Those factors you mentioned have probably played a factor too. And the album he dropped in 03 was his retirement album, so it all adds up
