I agree but then again if someone out here doing scust s*** what are ppl supposed to say
The average person has no power under capitalism so they try to gain some by cancelling people online, it makes them feel important and as if they are participating in a democracy, a feeling they otherwise don't feel all too often. That's my take on it

Most of our adult life is spent working so yeah, it does matter and influence our feelings and views. People feel so politically impotent that only in the mob rage they can feel like they are contributing something useful and making a change in the world. Shaming has always existed but performative shaming seems to be a new phenomenon. If people had more outlets to make a mark on society they wouldn't cling on to inconsequential celebrity s*** but here we are.
Only celebs doing objectively sick s*** like sexually inappropriate behavior towards kids should be cancelled imo, but people are trying to cancel any celeb who does something they don't personally agree with. Kanye a perfect example of how the public can turn on you once you use your platform to voice things they don't agree with. He's just a guy who makes art, why should we even care about his views on slavery or politics
