  • Cancel culture started off right, if there was a legit scumbag they'd bring it to light and people would make the decision to not support them, now any person who's ever made a mistake or did anything insensitive is liable to lose their career even on just an accusation or something without context.

Only celebs doing objectively sick s*** like sexually inappropriate behavior towards kids should be cancelled imo, but people are trying to cancel any celeb who does something they don't personally agree with. Kanye a perfect example of how the public can turn on you once you use your platform to voice things they don't agree with. He's just a guy who makes art, why should we even care about his views on slavery or politics

    This.

What pisses me off is how people treat XXX after his death lmao — he just didn’t have 15 years to rehabilitate his image like Kobe did, but he was on his way there, trying to become a better person.

Same people that would’ve s*** on Kobe if he died right after his trial or some s*** smfh

Cancel culture barely ever actually results in the cancellation of someone.

Also, if you haven’t done any particularly s***ty things that you have yet to own up to then you don’t really have anything to worry about in the cases where it actually does go somewhere.

The average person has no power under capitalism so they try to gain some by cancelling people online, it makes them feel important and as if they are participating in a democracy, a feeling they otherwise don't feel all too often. That's my take on it

    People who don’t vote too

People have owned up to s*** years ago, and then still face this when someone brings it up again. Didn’t that YouTuber face this? The one who “quit” YouTube even though she’s addressed her behavior years ago and lives a very inspiring, good natured life?

  • All this does is deincentivize people from trying to make a change before they get cancelled lol

I feel like a few celebs have lost some of their power after being cancelled, most recently Ellen, Doja, Draya and Tory.
When the cancellation is warranted, it usually sticks. But a lot of the time, it’s for silly s*** so it doesn’t work

It's something about celebrities crawling out the woodworks to defend other celebrities who are being rightfully "cancelled" for some wild s*** that don't sit right with me...why has it become such an issue to hold people accountable?

Cause normal humans now feel like their the judge/have the final say so thus making “cancel culture”automatically flawed cause every human is imperfect. Yes,there’s very obvious people that need to be called out like undercover racist or pedo’s but even then, you still have people who are very selective, they cancel who they wanna cancel.

Cardi B should’ve technically been cancelled for admitting to stealing from men whom she slept with but no,that’s just Cardi B. Can’t be selective and be the judge of righteousness at the same time.

    Why would God "cancel" her?

Also holding people accountable for their crimes has nothing to do with trying to be God lol does she expect people to just watch as rapists/abusers etc go about their lives Kelly lame asl for this

We should care because he's a huge public figure with a big platform that can influence the beliefs of impressionable kids. Alot of these kids live vicariously through these celebrities so they need to be checked when they're wrong. And also holding people accountable shouldn't be only for celebrities,it should be for everyone doing or saying something questionable or morally wrong
