It’s pretty cool how that ‘can you find the wolves in this picture’ moment being a clear a***ogue to the killings was just clever trailer editing. In the movie, its just a passing thematic foreshadowing kinda thing . I wonder if Scorsese knew he wanted that dialog put over a pic of the Masonic lodge or if it was Thelma Schoonmaker note or solely a trailer house cook up

The hard R also appears in Casino in a way that's really easy to miss, Pesci uses it to describe dark spots and imperfections in diamonds, I think it may legit appear in more Scorses movies than Tarantino movies

Scorsese's done a huge amount to preserve and elevate the work of black filmmakers though through the Film Foundation, I think Killers of the Flower Moon, in bringing Tulsa into the narrative, shows that the man is disgusted at racial hatred in any form, he just has a lot of racist white guys in his movies, but the lack of a real susbtantial black character in any of his movies, besides the underwritten Von Morton character in Boxcar Bertha is pretty odd considering how many he's made

Add the one black character in Flower Moon that's a thief to the list.

He doesn't really have any positive depictions of black people like at all. Always got us looking nuts.

It’s not really about him not f***ing with black people. It’s moreso just him realizing he’s not the right guy to tell a movie about a perspective he doesn’t know much about. You can tell with how he grew up, his perspective always came from being around white people, many of whom had racist views.

Can’t say I’ve ever supported the notion that a filmmaker be forced to write characters of a race or culture that he/she would have no idea about. Invest in studios run by people of color to get those kinds of stories

Also I don’t think there is a single non African that has done more for African cinema than Scorsese with his world cinema project
