    She’s Gotta Have It
    Mo Better Blues
    Jungle Fever
    Crooklyn
    Get on the Bus
4 Little Girls (one of the more memorable documentaries I’ve seen, especially w regard to the way the camera captures the interviewees’ faces)
Bamboozled (one of the century’s best so far)

    His 90s run is phenomenal

those are just my personal favorites… Clockers n Sun of Sam are cool too. And I don’t love 25th Hour like others (sorta weird bc it’s one of his most acclaimed but it’s not really my thing) but idk how anyone’s calling him mid if they’ve actually seen any of the above.

  • Jul 5, 2021

School Daze & Da Sweet Blood are my two least favs, but everything else I’ve seen has been at least alright… even the (I think) much maligned Girl 6 + She Hate Me. Spike has so many lowballed films that are actually good af when given the chance. He def could use a little more quality control, but still is talented enough to make sorta crappy s*** like Chiraq still interesting on some level. Most of his disappointing s*** is def post-Bamboozled (his last Great film arguably the best imo)

Was kinda hoping this thread would do better. Same with the Cameron one from last week. The next couple of weeks i might try to chose less acclaimed but more divisive directors.
