for the same reason theyre fixated on what they can play around friends / in parties and s***

hip hop is now about the image of it rather than actually consuming the music

never understood people like that tbh

Nah. Macklemore was one of the most disliked/polarizing rappers on KTT for a while and the users who caped for him were clowned.

He was liked/defended by a decent amount of posters up to a certain post. Also Vanilla Ice is closer to 6ix9ine personally wise, he's edgier than Macklemore plus sold much more album wise. I know for a fact plenty would have been stanning him.

cause that’s one of the only “objective” measures of music in their eyes

It is if you’re monitoring popularity

And let's keep it 100. Niggas preach this one day.

But when they're fave is dropping an album, the 1st thing they hope for is that they hope that they get a number 1 album or sell well.

Same s*** with the Grammy's. Niggas scream "Fuck the Grammy's" one day but congratulate their faves for winning it and bring up how Kendrick/Hov/Kendrick winning so many Grammy's solidifies their legacies.

Is it Oochie Wally or One Mic?

I'm not a big chart fan myself and I know and listen to tons of obscure music from different genres. But we all now niggas sometimes flip flop on charts/sales mattering or not depending on the artists lol.

"remember when KTT said 69 was the next superstar?" KTT f***ing hated 69 from the jump lol

"KTT hated on dababy and was so late for his comeup" literal cap, there were so many threads abt dude b4 he blew up off suge. maybe like 4-5 users said they didnt like his music.

90% of the time people say "KTT this" or "KTT that" its a stupid incorrect assumption and only serves to make the person saying it feel cool / superior to other users. pathetic...

KTT was annoying as s*** with the 6ix9ine stanning, you couldn't even talk s*** about him without 4-5 posters instantly coming out of the bushes and yelling at you/cussing you out.

    stupid tweet

music is f***ing amazing, a music forum of all places should be able to get that. and people will pay for amazing s***. and anywhere people are paying money, an industry will form. its not about ego its about music, dont act like that tweet is deep

    an idealist i see

its not denying that its amazing, or that people genuinely enjoy it

but by and large, the industry is supported by promoting music, and thereby their fans, as "being better than others"

i dont think it's too hard to see

No. The genre stagnated because a lot of the newer rappers are street and don't have too much crossover appeal compared to past rap stars.

Only Lil Baby, Doja Cat, and DaBaby have crossed over. And many of the innovative new school ones have either died or gone to jail.

So, it's really a matter of circumstance. We don't really have a new school Ye/Wayne/50/Hov/Em/Drake type rapper in the newer generation yet with strong mass appeal.

Nah, more like 4-5 posters at every given moment to counter you every time you say something negative about him.

Let's not act like we didn't have huge threads about 6ix9ine everyday and in every thread it was just a few talking s*** and the rest were just kids defending/stanning for him and doing every mental gymnastic possible.

tbh i think its stagnating bc label people think street rap is the next big thing, so the guys who get pushed the most are dudes like polo g, youngboy, lil baby, etc.

and yeah street rap is popular, but it also has such little variation. eveybody is using the same guitar piano type beats. nothing sounds unique anymore. that's not to say there aren't unique artists, but they just arent getting pushed by labels like that.

I like/love a lot of posters, but can't deny that the majority love to d***ride trends+the charts blindly+are addicted to meme tier humor. The generic KTT hypebeast has always been a thing. Not to mention all the posters who are toxic towards others bc of blind celebrity/clout worship, huge problem on this site.
