Who are some of y'alls favorite characters in the book beside Paul? I like the Baron, Kynes R.I.P. & Jessica

Lady Jessica probably my favorite, next to Paul. Lot's of great characters in the book though, but Lady Jessica just seems so powerful lol

She was bout to put hands on Jamis :word: Not to sound like a hater but I really don't like the actress depicting her in the movie She almsost ruined Doctor Sleep. Hope she can do the character justice

Sorry haven't been active here ( or ktt in general ) but finished the book in the meantime... Well as someone who isn't a big fan of sci-fi books i ended up enjoying more then i thought i would, altho sometimes it was a bit of a drag to read especially in the beggining

Can i suggest we read non-fiction as well, i think some philosophy/psychology books would incentivise more discussion of the contents in here

I’d be down for that. You have any recommendations? I’ll make a poll by end of this week

just finished this, minus the appendices. it was alright, at times I liked it at times it dragged. also felt like there were huge time jumps that left out a lot of plot and character develop I was interested in reading. not gonna check out the sequels but I'm excited to peep Lynch's Dune and eventually Villeneuve's

    I'd give it a 7/10

Hmm off the top of my head maybe some books like:

    — Man's Search For Meaning, V.Frankl
    —Plato's Republic
    — Beyond Good And Evil , Nietzsche
    —Crime and Punishment, Dostoievsky
    —Man and His Symbols, C.Jung
    — Brave New World, Huxley
    —Being and Time, Martin Heidegger

I have yet to read the last three...

But even tho most people have probably read it already, i think Crime and P could be a nice pick

Some of Vonnegut’s stuff doesn’t seem too science fiction-y? Crime and P would be a good choice for the Poll so I’ll add that

What’s it about? Briefly lol. I can add to the poll. Trying to get a diverse set of books for us to choose from.

doubt it, expectations going in are super low based on the hate it gets. big Lynch fan so I'm sure I'll find something to like about it

would have loved to see Jodorowsky's version tho

I think this is a good idea.

Meditations by Marcus Arelious would be a nice one to start with. Short enough readings to do a “chapter” a day, & jam packed with conversation starters.

basically at the turn of the millenium, the universe resets to 10 years earlier. everyone realises this and can remember the first time they experienced it but cant do anything different this time. its a good read
